Turn Off Computer options missing "Hiberbate"
by Guest tek- 6 replies

When I click "Turn Off Computer" I use to receive 4 options: Hibernate, Stand By, Turn Off, Restart. For some strange reason after I had to reinstall XP Home on my laptop I only receive 3 options: Stand By, Turn Off, Restart. I've searched Google for some answers but the only one I found that is close to a resolution is to hold the SHIFT key while the mouse pointer hovers over the Stand By option to toggle the options. But how do I get the Hibernate option back fully without having to toggle it with the mouse and SHIFT key?

Why doesn't right click "send to" give and option C drive (with a drop down menu? You'd think some genius at MS would say "there must be an easier way"... eventually. -- Don't squat with your spurs on.

Problems with Xcopy in startup script
by Guest Slingshotz- 3 replies

This is driving me nuts and I have not been able to find any answers on any user group. This is a basic batch file script that I am deploying through group policy in the startup script to copy templates from the server to the local machine. I'm deploying it during the startup so that every computer gets it, regardless of who logs in. ========================= if NOT exist "C:\Templates" md "C:\Templates" pushd "\\servername\Templates\" xcopy *.dot C:\Templates /Y /D popd ========================= The script works perfectly when run by itself, but during the startup script when a computer starts up it keeps saying that *.dot is not found. ============…

When I try to view the Firewall settings I get a pop-up saying "Due to an unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings". My pc was infected with several viruses. I pulled the harddrive, put it in a HD enclosure and using a friends pc and his Kaspersky program, I was able to delete all of the viruses, trojans, etc. What is causing this inability to view wind. firewall settings? Any help is gratefull appreciated.
