A friend of mine used my computer and changed my background with a picure on my computer. Now all of my pictures show up on my 'display properties' under the desktops background. I don't want all of these there. Is there any way to remove them from the available backgrounds?

Activation issues with removable hard drives redeaux
by Guest sfriedman- 9 replies

I currently use 3 removable drives on my system for specific applications. One is for primary use, another for software development purposes and a third for games. Each one only runs on one machine. Recently though I've had instances where I've needed to re-activate my copy of Windows and have been directed to call Miscrosft since it told me I could not do it over the internet. Each time I responded that it is used on only one machine and have been given a new code. I am concerned that one time they will NOT give me a new activiation code. I want to be very clear on the policy especially since I now have two drives that have different activation codes on them tha…

Windows Services Disabled Involuntarily
by Guest Nina Kahn- 1 reply

Selective Windows XP services get disabled involuntarily even if they are set to manual or auto. They go back to being disabled randomly when I log off, restart, or shut down/boot. Sometimes the services will stay at the settings I choose, but otherwise they will become disabled. I have the following set to auto: Telephony, Remote Access Connection Manager, Event Log, Windows Audio. Others are disabled or on manual by choice. But they all randomly become disabled. I cannot figure out what is going on. I checked my firewall/program control for any blocking issues. I checked for viruses/spyware. Also I used registry mechanic to check for registry issues. N…

Hi All, I would like to run a day manager off of an USB flash drive. The idea would be that I could plug it into any computer and have my note, appointments, etc.. Sort of like a Palm, only no Palm and it uses everyone else's computer. Anyone know of such an animal? Many thanks, -T

IE windows opening by themselves
by Guest CM- 2 replies

We have a problem with one of our office laptops where IE will start on its own and then keep opening new windows, interfering with using the computer. Have run TrendMicro and WebRoot Spy Sweeper and haven't found anything. Also deleted a Registry Key that some instructions we found for a similar "About:blank" issues suggested. Nothing worked. The computer did have IE7, but have removed and still have the same issue, albeit to a less frequent and annoying extent. Any ideas? Christian

How to reset Windows XP appearance to defaults? (Active Title Bar, Menu, Palette, etc) Hi Guys/Gals, Have an issue where my display for my machine is weirdly sized and I just want to reset it to factory. Did a search and closest resolution I could find was to reset to Windows XP classic but that did not do it - it retains the Title Bar settings, etc. Is there a way to reset this to Windows defaults? thanks.
