Thumbnails identity missing, query
by Guest franktee- 3 replies

Hi all This is more of a nuisance than a problem. This only started in past few days after accidently deleted some folders in System Tools. When opening the "my computer" and clicking "views" and then clicking "thumbnails" there is now no lettering to identify the icons in the thumbnail mode. "Tiles", "icons", "list" and "details", do show lettering but "thumbnails" does not. Can anyone advise a fix. Excuse the shortwindedness.

I looked at my restore points and there were none. I created one manually and went back to see if it was there and it was. When I reboot, however, the restore point is gone. Sceduler and system restore services are running, not at all low on disk space. Any ideas ??

by Guest gilliano56- 11 replies

OS Windows XP Pro, SP2. Unintentionally I installed the Asian Fonts on my PC and now when I am in some of my graphic programmes choosing a font to use, when I stand on one of these fonts it causes my pc to freeze and I have to go out of the programme I am in. When I look at these fonts through a font viewer under "Installed Fonts"I see that they have a @ sign in front of their name? In the Windows Font folder there are no fonts with the @ sign for me to delete. I would like to uninstall/delete these fonts but haven't found a way to do so. Can anybody help me here, it's driving me crazy? I have asked this question in other forums but haven't received a re…

Re Message Sticks. I understand that is the name for the small storage "gismo" that fits into the E slot. The head (?) of the message stick is either retracted or, depending on the manufacturer is protected with a circular moving cover. Wassup.

I am using Windows XP Pro and just getting familiar with some of the differences between Pro and Home. Having trouble figuring out why I have file and folder icons filling up my desktop. I absolutely hate them and cannot find a way to make it stop. Everytime I create a new file folder, or file in a Microsoft product or Nero, an icon for that folder or document appears on my desktop. I have my folder defaults set up differently but it keeps putting everything on desktop. Is driving me crazy! If I try to move or delete the icon, the file or folder itself is deleted. What am I missing? Thank you.

Need a Sound Card
by Guest RyanH- 2 replies
Well after a few days and many reinstalls, downgrades, and headaches I'm pretty sure that the soundcard on the motherboard is fried, broken, or something else I can't think of. Connceting headphones or speakers through the back jack gives me no sound at all and if I connect through the fron jack I only get audio in the left speaker/headphone. So now I guess I'll just have to go out and buy a soundcard. Now that I have XP again this shouldn't be a problem right? So any suggestions for basic everyday playback? (Preferably something I could just go pick up at like best buy or circuit city tommorrow)
