by Guest lisen- 10 replies

HI, I installed the external USB hard disk, which was pluged into the USB box. but everytime I turned on the electricity and made the hard disk run, I had to "manage the disks" and there are two options "change to basic disk and activate the dynamic disk" What could I do to avoid that operation and use that disk freely? Or could I "activate the dynamic disk" permanently no matter if I turned on/off the USB box? Ps. I have abundance of datas and files on that disk already.

How can I display my PC on my TV?
by Guest Stan Hilliard- 11 replies

I want to display my PC on my TV to show video from the Internet. I set the TV as a second monitor. When I boot the PC, the TV will display the bios screen and the windows startup icon but will not display the welcome screen or the desktop or programs. In PC's display settings, the "identify" button puts a "1" on the monitor and "2" on the TV -- as it should. Equipment: Video Card: GeForce 5500, ports are analog VGA and digital DVI. The DVI port is cabled to monitor -- Viewsonic 912b LCD, 1280x1024. The VGA port is cabled to a wireless sender ---> wireless receiver. The wireless receiver has a composite cable to the TV's video2 port. The TV is a So…

Calling on heavy guns: need help

On my computer WinXP PRO SP3 each action involving any .avi file is causing Data Execution Prevention (DEP) intervention. And it even does not involve openning .avi file. Any click on .avi file (mouse left or right click), action like copying, renaming, anything is invoking DEP and Dr.Watson shutting down the Windows Explorer. It does happen to every .avi file I have on my system and that includes some sample .avi supplied with commercial products. It must be the real .avi file. When I renamed .txt file to .avi file there was not problem with that "new" .avi file. Why my Windows does not like .avi files? My DEP settings are set to default settings: "T…

by Guest justkay- 1 reply

If I make a change to the registry and find I must undo it, couldn't I use a system restore point rather than restoring from a system state backup? I understand that restore points capture the registry & they are so easy to use.

EXCEL for MAC - DA
by Guest deanalt@aol.com- 6 replies

It seems that more and more college students every year are choosing MACs versus PCs (40% now and growing fast) and that my daughter is headed that way. I have a PC, but the evidence seems to be pretty unequivocal that, if you can afford it, a MAC is just better. Regarding EXCEL, I assume that MAC users can import and use a file ctreated on a PC and vice- versa. Can anyone tell me. Every time we tlak about EXCEL 2002 versus 2003 veruss 2007 and the like, are there equivalent versions of these on the MAC, too. Given some of the occaisonally difficuly issiues between 2003 and 2007, it scars me to think about PC versus MAC version issues that could come u…

Media Max from sony bmg
by Guest Pool-Boy- 0 replies

I just tried to load a Santana album into itunes and followed the directions to install the copyright protection on the cd (Media Max) BIG Mistake! My AVG flagged it as a virus. I did a little reserch and found some of the problems I am now in for. I am very carefull about what programs I install and stupidly trusted that a legitimate sony bmg cd would be OK. I undestand it is a security risk and want it gone, but I have read that it can be a real problem to try and unistall. What now? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Compaq presario startup problems! help!!
by Guest rickylowary@gmail.com- 6 replies

so my grandparents have recruited me to try and fix their computer. I am fairly knowledgeable with computers but this one has me stumped. Upon startup of their XP system an error window pops up that it cannot find Oleauts32.dll with lsass.exe and services.exe window heading for the two different message windows. It says reinstalling the .dll file would probably fix the problem. when i click ok the pointer will just sit at a blank screen. we have already done a system recovery and it is still not fixed. what do i do? do i need to change the .dll to.old and install vbrun60.exe? thanks for your help!
