problems moving software package from xp to 2003
by Guest RossB- 1 reply

I am moving 2 software packages from XP to server 2003, for use on citrix. The software works okay on XP, but not on server 2003. The error message given when run on server 2003 is "runtime error 31037, error loading from file". Is there any way, either through windows or Third party tools, to tell which files an application uses .eg .dlls, .ocx files etc. The software I am installing is MS HIS client 2000 & a custom application.

Virtual server R2 sp1 using NTBackup issues
by Guest Jeff S.- 1 reply

On the Virtual server host I schedule NTbackups for the guests. I do not shutdown or save the state on the virtual guests as I thought SP1 supports this method of guest backups. The ntbackup job backs up the folders where the *.vhd, *.vnc and *.vsv files are located. The ntbackup jobs finish successfully, however I get the following message in the virtual server event viewer when the ntbackup begins: The VSS writer failed to get the properties of the virtual machine "virtual machine name". The virtual machine is allowed for Offline backup only. I noticed that this message only occurs for 2003 guests, the 2000 guests do not produce this message. C…

We have a W2K3 SP 1 server with a application running. Sometimes when we reboot the machine, some files in directories are deleted. This does not happen everytime. but the deleted files are allways the same. It are JAVA files. We tried (using auditing) to find out who deleted these but are not able to find the user or service that did it. Does anyone have any idea how to attack this problem? Ivo

by Guest Lito Kusnadi- 1 reply

I am experiencing a problem with one of my windows 2000 servers. Its role is file server and print server. It is running on IBM blade with SAN storage. It doesn't response during production hour and found out that I have to do a hard reboot. When booting into the server, it runs the 3 stages check (which is similar to chkdsk /F). I am able to run my server again and everything is running normal. I found Event ID: 55 "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume C:" in event viewer. I have encountered this problem with different servers in different companies, but never really find out why…

User account back-up
by Guest Chris Painter- 0 replies

We have a dell server with Microsoft Small Business server, which is in real need of updating. I need to increase the hard drives within the server however in doing this I will have to format the existing data. This should be a major problem, however I need to back-up or make a report of all users, user permissions, user email addresses and any other info surrounding user account. Does anyone know of a tool that can do this? I will be making a Microsoft back-up however because I am changing the storage size I am a little worried that the back-up I make will not recover correctly, which in turn is why I need to find a tool to do all the above. Thanks

Performance Monitor Issue
by Guest matthew_h- 2 replies

2003 Server... Database & ERP system server... When I try to add a Performance Monitor Object or 'Counter' , all of the Objects are listed as numbers. For example, instead of PROCESS or MEMORY, only 1152, 1154, 1156, 1158, 1160,... and so on... are shown in the drop down list. There are no service packs applied to this machine. It is a database server running our ERP system and management won't approve updating the machine. I believe the system is bottlenecking (has 2 GB RAM) but can't prove it without Performance Monitor working. Thanks in advance...
