Position Change need to change user name and mail box
by Guest frogman- 2 replies

I am running Exchange 2003 (Version: 6.5.7638.1) Here is my situation. I had someone leave (Bill) and then Kyle replaced that person. Bill's email has lots of mail in the mail box that pertains to the position and he also has another email box associated with his account. What I want to do is just use Bill's AD profile and Email but change it to Kyle and set up the other email box in the new profile. What is the best way to do this? just change active directory and hope it changes the email too? Create Kyle in AD and create and email box then copy all the info from Bill's to Kyle's mail box? Is there a better solution that I don't even know about Than…

WSUS and Internet Explorer
by Guest Keith Wilcox- 1 reply

Hi, Is there any way of using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to ensure that client PCs have a minimum install of Internet Explorer, such as 5.50.4134.0600? Several PCs on my network have an older version of IE than this, and it's starting to cause problems... Alternatively, is there any way of downloading an IE setup file onto my server, so that I can update IE on these PCs over the network, and without having to connect these PCs to the internet? (This will also cause problems...) Whilst investigating this problem, I have also discovered that some PCs on the network aren't listed in WSUS - and presumably aren't getting Windows Updates. Doe…

how do you do runas on a reg file? or runas on regedit.exe on a reg file. by that I mean. Suppose i'm in a non-admin account. If I want to run an exe, I can right click and do runas, and enter the username and password of an or the administrative account. But I can't do that with a reg file. I can't right click a reg file.. and this doesn't work either C:\WINDOWS>runas /user:Administrator regedit.exe c:\a.reg this works in the sense that it opens up regedit and tries to run the reg file. But can't write to place required 'cos not administrator C:\WINDOWS>regedit.exe c:\a.reg this opens regedit, but I want to run a reg file, i don't want to e…

Fax Console on SBS 2003 / SP2 sends 2page fax scrunched up into 1p
by Guest John Advisory- 1 reply

When my client sends a fax, his recipient complains that the message is received scrunched up onto 1 page. The top half of the first page appears correct but the lower part shows lines scruching up. The second page is not received. Tests I have done have had mixed results with some faxes coming through ok, while others showing slightly different faults: - only minimal scrunching so that the first page can still be read. - scrunching on the 2nd page with the lower half missing. I have had an email sent of the fax and these reproduce perfectly. The client is faxing from a 3rd party application. Other users in the office are sending from other applicat…

by Guest Chris- 4 replies

Hi all, I have 2 DCs running Windows 2003 in Windows 2000 native mode, on one of them there is Exchange 2003 SP2. Not reccomended configuration, but working. I need to migrate them into 3 new servers, new AD domain, 2DCs, 3rd will be member server running Exchange 2003. Around 200 user accounts (with mailboxes), similar number of PCs. Some users have home directories. What are possibilites to migrate old configuration into new one? All needs to be done within 48 hrs, possibly without much interruption for users. Thanks for any input. Chris

Is there anyway to link calendar entries creates in a personal calendar to the same entry in the shared calendar so that if one entry is edited or deleted then the duplicate entry in the shared calendar is also edited without having to go in and edit the two manually.

Blue Screen Windows 2003 Std. R2
by Guest Anthony Smith- 1 reply

Good Morning Everyone, I hope everyone is doing well today. I have a Windows 2003 Std R2 Server that is being used as a web server with IIS. Something strange is happening to this server. When I move the mouse to de-activate the screen saver, I get the usual Workstation Locked screen and press Ctrl+Alt+Del to unlock the workstation. Well when I give it the 3-finger salute, it takes a few minutes THEN the prompt opens up for me to enter the password. I enter the password, the logon screen disappears like it is logging on and all I see is a blue screen. No error message, but I see the mouse cursor on the screen I can move it around the screen but not…

Question about a 2003 Terminal Server
by Guest BigMark- 1 reply

Hi All I need to move a server running TS in application mode from an old Win2k domain to a new 2003 one. The TS is joined to a Win2k Small Business Server at the moment, but I'm installing a new 2003 SBS box. The TS server is a DC and is the License Server. My question is does the TS licensing stuff become part of Active Directory (i.e. will it stop working at the domain change) or will the machine happily integrate to the new 2003 domain? I was going to do a "Swing Migration", but there is too much change between the old Small Business Server and the required config of the new 2003 unit. Has anybody else done this?? Thanks Heaps BigM…

We recently ran ntbackup on a Windows 2003 x64 server, and backed up the (system) C: drive and systemstate. Then we used ntbackup to restore this data onto an external drive (F:) with the intent of using it as a boot device replacement for our C: drive. (Yes we know other changes would be needed to F: before attempting this.) However, when we checked the restored data on the second drive, registry files in F:\WINDOWS\system32\config were missing. Also, when starting the restore, we receive the warning message: "Not all system state data will be restored when re-directed to an alternate location. This is an advanced restore option which may aid in recoveri…

2003 Server EE App Event Warning Source: PerfDisk EventID: 2001
by Guest John T. Seelig- 2 replies

On approximately 5 of our Production IBM blade 8832's we get this error occasionally. No matter what I have tried it keeps logging these every 10 seconds. Restarting the server resolves the problem, but obviously this is less than ideal. According to the conventional wisdom I can find this is due to disk performance counters being turned off. This being a 2003 server, my understanding these are always turned on. Any assistance regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

performance logs not writing to disk
by Guest rschatz- 0 replies

I have Windows Server 2003 and am monitoring with a counter log. I should be able to look at the current log even while it continues to add data. I was able to do this before. However, I wanted to change something in the log - remove a couple counters - so I changed that and then waited. Even though it is running and adding an entry every 5 minutes, it does not seem to actually write out to the file. I stopped the counter log and restarted it to see if that would fix it. After I stopped it, the log file did have data in it. The new log that was started still does not have any data in the file after a day. What's going on here? I don't want to have to stop …

DCPROMO Missing?
by Guest homeboarder8- 3 replies

Currently I am running Windows Server 2003, it is on a workstation setup. When I try to setup the server to be a Primary Domain Controller (Start-Run-dcpromo) It says "Windows cannot find 'dcpromo'..." So I did a search for dcpromo.exe... nothing. Is there another way to change from a workstation to PDC? Any help will be appriciated.
