Monitor Folder Server 2000.
by Guest Andrew Staley- 0 replies

We have a self built application which we use to administer our work related documents, which stores all information into a specific folder and sub folders as required. Of late we are having problems where a number of users are accessing the folder outside of this program and accidentally moving folders they shouldn't be (and then not owning up and leaving us to find out later). How can I monitor these folders and record who is moving them and where they move them to? I've tried using the audit tab but all this shows is what privileges are used by a user, assuming I have set them up right. Andrew.

Hello, I am preping for the 292 and 296 exams and going back to read through Manasi's bible. Been working with server and AD for awhile, but some of these options I have never done and its got me confused. Hope someone can help. 1. When performing an unattended install, you just run the Setupmgr.exe and answer the questions as an Unattended install. I have done this for Sysprep when ghosting clients. Then changed the answer file to "winnt.sif" and copy it to a floppy. Put the Cd and floppy into the server and then hit space bar when prompted to boot from CD. Sound correct? 2. When slipstreaming SP2 into a distribution share install the boo…

How to change Keyboard layout on startup / logon screen
by Guest Gerrit Horeis- 3 replies

Hi NG, I've installed Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition on a server as english version. In my personal account I set the language and keyboard layout to german. Because this server should become a Terminal Server for people speaking and writing in different languages I want to make the keyboard layout for the login screen changeable. Is it possible? How do I achieve that? Now there is a litte "EN" box in one corner of the login screen, but I cannot select another value.... Who knows a solution? W2K3 automatically discovers Vista printers
by Guest David Griffiths- 1 reply

Hi All Windows Server 2003 I have just put the first Vista (Ulitmate) workstation on to the domain. Installed all the domain printers. When I logged into the Server I noticed that in the printers folder all the Vista workstation printers had automatically been discovered and installed. eg. "Brother HL-5130 series on florence (from SHARON) in session 1" and also made it the default printer for the server. I need to be able to stop this from happening or when we get many Vista works it will be crazy in the print folder. This does not happen with any Win XP workstation. Vista networking setup: Network Discovery ON File Sharing ON Public Folder Sha…

by Guest funkmusha- 2 replies

I define one startup script and one shutdown script in the group policy editor. When the system boots the script runs but when I try to login I enter my credentials and it starts to load my settings but then goes back to the logon prompt. When I enter my logon credentials for the second time I am able to login. When I remove the startup script this issue goes away. Any Ideas? Thanks

by Guest Sergio- 0 replies

Since the release of Windows Server 2003, I never have been able to get some result by using Dskprobe 2 v.10, the one included in WS2003 Support Tools. Up to the present, with the last release of Support Tools for WS2003R2 SP2, Dskprobe.exe has never been changed, I noted. Every time I tried to use it on IDE or SATA disks, dskprobe always gave me the same error condition: Physical Volumes -> Open Handle -> Read Sectors , no matter which starting sector I choose, I always get the popup error "The Parameter is incorrect" and the requested operation fails. Am I missing some trick ? I wonder that the version of Dskprobe2 released with WS2003 SP2 Sup…

I took a class that required Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. I didn't have any unusued space and I only have one partition, so I installed the 180-day Evaluation Edition included with my textbook in an alternate file path on the same partition as Windows XP Professional. After this, I found the following FAQ website and statement: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb430832.aspx "Q. If I installed Windows XP Professional on a server running the evaluation version of Windows Server 2003 R2, will Windows XP Professional be removed when the 180-day limit on the Windows Server 2003 R2 software is reached? A. Yes, if you installed th…
