error 1202 related to 0x534 cannot be solved..

hi there, The error 1202 SceCli keeps coming up on the machine. Through the search of the trouble source, winlogon.log indicates that an account "Everyone" has neither acocunt name nor security-id. I look for "Everyone" in gpt*.*, but nothing is found. During the maintenance of Windows 2000 (MUI in Swedish) workstation, I created once this extra user name in security permissions in order to delete one of legacy_driver keys. My slow brain tells me later that "Alla" must stand for "Everyone" in Swedish. As far as I'm concerned the key which includes a security name "Everyone" has been removed. So, where I can look for so as to correct this error? TIA, wa…

Off Topic Question - Operating System Name
by Guest dc- 2 replies

This been driving me crazy. Anyone know the name of the OS that was written by a guy in California that works in the Office section of Microsoft. His name is Jim something. The OS was written as a joke and later used to check code. Steve Jobs found a mole and had OS VII computer converted to this OS and deposited the CD in a trash can near the mole's desk , marked it as OS X beta. It was said that it was carried to Gates and he had the Vista team use some of the code, and purportedly the reason for some of the additional time to release. I'm trying to find the article, but haven't had any luck so far. Sorry for the OT. dc

Mistakenly deleted User Account
by Guest Ushnell- 1 reply

I decided to edit the User Accounts in the Control Panel to just change the original owners name Edwin to my name and though that the System would transfer those settings to my account so I deleted the original owners account; what a big mistake! I tried to solve this by creating the same user account under that same name but the System creates a folder in the Documents and Setting named Edwin.000 with it's fresh setting of desktop wallpaper image, my documents folder contents and Start menu items that are the default settings. One thing that I saw that makes me feel lucky though is that in the System Properties where User Profiles is, the system con…

Remote access for vendor?
by Guest Chris- 1 reply

I'm looking for suggestions as to the best way to allow a software vendor remote access to our network to work on a software install on a specific server. I guess I have to create them an account on my domain, and allow them remote access to VPN, and then RDP to the server they need access to. Is this the best method? And is there a way to lock them down tighter? Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks, chris

Hi Guys One of my small business clients is using a PC running Windows 2000 Professional to monitor fuel supplies etc. I have recently installed an internal slave Hard drive to use as a backup source, I have scheduled a full backup on a weekly basis and a daily incremental backup, however the automatic backups do not run, there are no backup jobs in the log, and there are no error messages to say that the backup failed. If I use the "backup now" facility everything runs along just fine. Any ideas anyone? Thanks guys n gals -- DennisK

Had Win 2000 on an 80G drive with partitions. The C partition ran out of space. Used the disc setup to format the drive and diskpart at the prompt to attempt to set up partitions. When I get to the section that asks to enter the size I want, the full disc capacity is already entered and I am unable to change it. Any suggestions?

windows 2000 login problem - or how I screwed up!
by Guest Bradley- 3 replies

Hi, We only run workgroups on our network, we do not have a domain. The other day the boss asked me to change the network settings so that all computers would be on the same workgroup. At the end of the day I had one more computer to go, I was in a rush and accidently set it to a domain. Now when the computer boots up, the administrator login requires a password and a domain to connect to. I want to get this computer network settings back to using workgroups. How do I do this? I have tried safe boot but no luck. Your help is greatly appreciated. thanks Bradley

Reinstalling MS security updates after removal?
by Guest G Lykos- 1 reply

Greetings! Used Add/Remove Programs to remove some Microsoft updates, for example "Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB926122)", in an attempt to rectify a system problem that seemed to have occurred as a result. Turns out that this was perhaps not the cause. In any event, the system is now fixed and operating normally, and I'd like to get current with relevant updates. Question - although the update above was removed as described, Microsoft Update does not now show that it needs to be (re)installed. How come? If a security update, and if in fact now not installed despite not showing up in Microsoft Update, am I now vulnerable? If I need to do this manua…

Logging in

I received an older computer with Windows 2000 on it. It works fine, but there is one thing I need to change. The person who gave it to me had an account on it that he called "me". When I turn the computer on and get to the log-in screen, it tries to automatically log in with this account. However, the password on it no longer works and so it keeps coming up with the "wrong username or password" error. However, I just log in as the administrator. How I can I stop it from doing this? I deleted the account but it still continues to do this. Any information will be appreciated,
