by Guest Jeff- 2 replies

On my other 2003 Terminal servers this link works: \\servername\...\Online_Manuals.CHM::/UGAP30.pdf This opens this pdf in adobe reader without issue. My new terminal server, same OS same everything except for Adobe reader version and IE version, will not open it at all. It has "Done" at the bottom and a blank page. What am I missing? Is there a registry fix or what do I need to do for this to work on my new server. Jeff

Redireted AppData
by Guest ms-dog1- 4 replies

Hi, Currentlyt we are redirecting our AppData (via a Group Policy) to users H drive which is housed on a MS 2003 Cluster. We have seen a few instances of the cluster node is failing. Failover is also failing to happen, as well. There is no clues in the event logs. Could this be due to the Appdata redirection? Too many files open??? Is it time to do some SMB tuning on the cluster and TS servers involved? I realize I have omitted pertinent info such as amount of users, etc but just a possible confirmation this investigation is heading in the right directon as to the possibilites for this issue. Thanks, Andie

Security event log parsing
by Guest Mark Scholl- 3 replies

I have a Bank client where the examiners have requested that the security event log be dumped, printed and reviewed daily for events showing user login and logout events. They have only one domain controller. Event ID's 538 and 540 appear to be the events I would like to filter. However, There are many events from the system user that I would like to exclude using these event ID's. I've looked at PSLogList from the PSTools suite but I don't find a switch to exclude the events from the system user. Any easy options? mark scholl

Identifying connection events to console session
by Guest kalevet- 3 replies

Hi, Is there any way to identify the connection and disconnection of a user to a console session, at the server level? Were I work several users have to connect from time to time to the console of a Win2003 server. I'd like to write something that will notify the users if they snatched the console session while it was in use by another user. For that, I need somehow to get the connection and disconnection events, if there's such a thing. Any Ideas?

XP Media
by Guest admcse- 0 replies

Hello, I have a very basic question on XP media. How can I identify whether a copied CD is either MVLS or OEM/retail? I have a few copied CDs for our different locations and for backup that I thought were MVLS but when I went to install them they would not take my MVLS PID but did take the OEM PID. So I messed up and incorectly labled these CDs (what else is new?). So the question is this - Is there an easy way to tell whether a copied CD is MVLS, OEM/Retail? I know the easiest thing would be to re-download the ISO from the Microsoft MVLS site, but I do not have access because this account was setup for us by our client and I don't have access…

Scheduled task not running
by Guest Ben Amada- 2 replies

Hi, I setup a scheduled task today on a Windows 2003 Server machine to run a simple command line utility. I want it to run every hour every day. I'm able to right click on the task and select "Run" and it runs successfully. The problem is that the task only runs when I manually start it, and is not running on the schedule. The schedule is: Every 1 hour(s) from 12:00 AM for 23 hour(s) every day, starting 8/22/2007. I originally tried just setting it to repeat the task until 11:00 PM, but the task scheduler keeps changing it back to a 23 hour duration -- which I think is the same result and it appears to not be a problem since the "Next Run Time" c…

Seek opinion on "fix OE errors" 1 2
by Guest Rod- 29 replies

I'd like to run one of the free fix-it programs "fix OE errors" available on the web. Any recomendations? warnings? Just checking with the cognoscenti. Any problems are probably with my ISP, my OE shows posts to my fav Newsgroup, but they are not getting replies, nor showing up in Google, so I thought I give these programs a fly, in part, to appease my anxiety. Praise to the knowledgeable.

Group Policy TS User Home setting
by Guest Ragnar- 8 replies

Hi Is there a way using only Group Policy settings to configure multiple home directory shares when using the Computer Configuration setting "TS User Home"? The home directory is a top-level share with subfolder for each home directory. E.g. \\server\user share\%username%. I know it's possible to use variables for the "TS User Home" Group Policy setting and then use it together with Terminal Services Home Folder per user account, however I don't want to use any per-user account settings. Can't really see that this have changed with Windows Server 2008 either.. Thanks. /Ragnar

General BSoD question
by Guest Thufir- 4 replies

Here's the scenario: can only boot into safemode, safemode with networking gives a BSoD regarding spooldr.sys, which may be the result of malware. From services.msc, should the print spooler be enabled or disabled? Use task manager to kill a process? That is, how to get into safe mode with networking at least, if not normal mode? thanks, Thufir
