I have a windows 2003 server with exchange 2003 running and have had no problems until yesterday when the message queuing service has stopped and will not start. I have restarted the machine and checked the dependant service and all look ok but the service will not start and in the even log I get the following error.. Windows Server Std. 2003 SP2 We have had shadow copies runniong for months now but I recently discovered they are being deleted except for a days worth. For example, when I checked this afternoon, I see a 7:00 AM and 12:00 for today and only the 12:00 from yesterday. The volume is on an iSCSI SAN and there is plenty of room. The volume has about 500 GB of data and we have allocated 100 GB for shadow copies. In the shadow copies properties on the volume it only reports 867 MB being used. Any ideas why our shadow copies history is gone and it is only keeping the previous days worth? Thanks

My CD player, which is probably 3 years old, is making an intermittent rrrr sound and won't read some CDs. This is not always the case. It seems to be happening with install CDs for various products that may have been used multiple times. I copied one CD to a fresh CD on another machine, and it's working fine. Will "cleaning" (soap! and water help?) OK, how about a cleaning cloth with some magic ingredient? I have a DC that is currently running 2003 standard OS. I want to upgrade it to Enterprise. All other DCs are running 2003 enterprise. I would think I could simply do an os upgrade without disrupting AD. Can I just run the os upgrade or do I have do DCpromo to remove it from AD, upgrade os, and DCpromo it back? thank you Mitch

So this thing was fine yesterday. Now the picture I had on my desktop is gone. When I go into the Control Panel to choose a different one, the desktop section is grayed out and locked. I cant even scroll down the list; the only thing it will let me change is the desktop color. Going to Documents-MyPictures- Selecting a picture, right-clicking and choosing "Set as Wallpaper" does nothing. But the picture I had comes up, briefly, when the computer is shutting down or booting up. WHY?!?! PLEASE make it stop!

I am getting a warning that Firefox.exe wants to open a program and my virus program asks if I should heal(or delete) this item.I have deleted it before but it seems to be coming back.This is where it is located c\windows\system32\firefox.exe. Should I delete this item? -- Grandpa

i get the following message when treying to install the latest version of direct x.. "A cabinet file necessary for installation can not be trusted. please verify the cryptographic services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid." i have no idea how to verify any of this. any help would be apreciated. thanks

A friend has just dropped off his computer for me to either find his problem or reinstall xp. The situation is that, after power on the user selections (there are 4 users of this machine) appear in reasonable time. However, when selecting a user it takes about 7 minutes (no sweep second on my wall clock), during which time only an empty desktop shows, before the application icons appear on the desk top. If we press Ctrl-Alt-Del immediately, the Task manager appears about 20 seconds or so later with virtually no programs running (about 10 MS modules) none of which is consuming any CPU cycles. Only Sys-idle is counting cycles. Just about when the 7…

I have a new keyboard with a hotkey to calc. Is it possible to change the default calculator that comes from Windows? I'd like to have a different program launch when you type in calc.

I recently tried loading the 3d feature of maps.live.com called Virtual Earth 3d and couldn't do it. I get an error telling me to install MS .NET Framework 2.0 and try again. I tried to install Framework but couldn't do that either, getting a "Error 25007. Error occurred while initializing fusion. Setup could not load fusion with LoadLibraryShim( ). error: 0X80131700." I can also load all Office 2003 programs except Access. Could these problems be related and if so, where do I turn next?
