Nightmare with saved credentials
by Guest JJ- 3 replies

I'm using Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe 6.0.6000.16386) on XP Pro for remote administration of a number of Windows 2000 Server (SP2 and all the latest patches) and Windows Server 2003 machines. I'm trying to get the client to remember credentials and passwords for the remote connections so that I can simply click a shortcut to connect to any one of the servers. I'm having mixed luck at doing this. One of the odd things is that connections where it once successfully remembered the credentials, it now no longer does. For the Windows 2003 Servers, when I load a RDP file, or even just type in the host name, I see: -------------------------------------…

Hello, I am trying to get Microsoft ADS v 1.1 to work in a test environment. I have the ADSMASTER server with all the ADS applications and DHCP running, it is running Windows 2003 R2. I have another server that has Windows 2003 and some applications that I wanted to capture. I created the device for this new server and specified the MAC address. It shows up in the ADS Admin as "Windows Connected". I also ran the script to create the jobs based on the sample scripts. Whenever I run the capture image job on my device it reboots the server that I want to image but this server then just boots back up on his hard drive and into the OS. I have also tried the re…

If someone would be kind enough to tell me the proper way of configuring my installed hardware, I will dismantel and re-assemble my computer again. It is not a store bought computer but one that I have assembled. thank you for the knowledge.

Hi all, I hope this question finds all doing fairly well. I had terrible time try to install clean copy of Vista Business. I finally wiped my hard drive clean again and reinstalled Window XP Home edition, which has a weak crummy fax program. One can only send a cover sheet with no following pages. I would like to upgrade to XP Professional if it had full true fax program. Does anyone know if it does? Thanks in advance. -- RICHARD

RE: Assumptions regarding a new post! Brand new to this community and ap. First, I cannot seem to make a new post, only replies. Is there a waiting period? Second, I keep all my data files on a separate drive (F:). I use a mouthstick to type and would love to change the default location where Windows and and other aps look. For instance, when I go to attach a file to and e-mail I'm drafting in Outlook Express, it looks to My Documents. Same when I start Adobe Acrobat. How can I change the defaults to the root of my "data drive" (F:\)? Thank you. -- Comfortable In My Skin "Richard Urban" wrote: > ASSUMPTIONS REGARDING YOUR POST > > …

I've got an interesting question. I currently have a citrix/terminal services server that publishes applications to 6 branch locations. And to get around the horrid printer management of citrix, I disabled the printer autocreation option and setup IP connected printers locally on the citrix server. So these printers are setup so that they will point to the physical printer at each of the branch locations using that print server's IP address. Recently I've had a monkey wrench thrown at me in the form of staff rotation at a few of the branches. My goal now is to create a script that I can place in the startup folder of each user profile that is housed o…

MS Works Calendar error message and shuts down
by Guest Noble- 13 replies

When the reminder box comes up, I try to open and change the reminder (from 2 weeks to 1 week, etc.). As soon as I click on either "this occrence" or "open the series", I get "Microsoft® Works Calendar has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." At that point it shuts down. It has happened multiple times, (every time) no matter which appointment I am being reminded of. It also happens if I try to update/change it using the menu and not the pop up reminder window. Any ideas?

Disk Quota shows wrong results > files owned by Admin & not the us
by Guest Jason Lehman WC- 0 replies

I have a file server that houses all our users folders (home folders.) When we get a new users, I have to logon to the file server & create a folder, setup share/security. The problem in doing that is, the file created is owned by the Admin; since that is how I am logged on. When I look at disk quota, the Admin account is shown for using up space that should be credited towards the users. I have inherited this domain & would like some ways to... 1. Set ownership up on curent & new files/folders so users own their own folders, not the admin. We have too many users to do this manually. 2. Create a policy that when a new user is created, a home fold…

I have an HP Server with a Raid5, three hard drives in teh array, two drives - C and D. Both my drives are filling up and it's affecting performance. I've cleaned up all I can. I want to add an additional drive to the array this weekend. I have documentation on using the HP Array Configuration Utility to add the new drive into the array, but am stuck there for then adding that new space to the C and D drives. I have downloaded DiskPart.exe from Microsoft and am reading through the documentation. It's a little confusing to me right now and I'm nervouse as a cat about attempting this. Can anyone help me by listing the simple steps (commands) that…

W2k3 R2 - MMC could not create the snap-in

I've just added the WINS server role to the DC we have and I get the following error when trying to open the WINS snap-in: "MMC could not create the snap-in" The other DC has also had the WINS role added and the WINS snap-in works just fine. I even copied the snap-in from the working DC to the non-working DC to see if that would make any difference (in case it was a corrupt snap-in) but I get exactly the same results. A search around only produced fixes for errors on Vista. This Windows 2003 R2. Any suggestions?
