just wondering if there are any issues with windows server 2003 service pack 2. I have one AD domain with 3 domain controllers on server 2003 with no service packs on the DC's. The server i want to upgrade is a member server running sql server 2000. The other applications on it are dell openmanage, arcserver backup agent, adaptec storage manager, and visual C++ 6.0. Just wondering if win server 2k3 sp2 plays nice with all of those. The release notes don't say anything about them. Thanks

Too many installed programs.

My pc is showing 208 installed programs. I would say that about 170 of them are updates for windows, microsoft office and security updates. Is there a way I can cut this down? Can they be uninstalled and another update be done to maybe minimize this or I am just looking for trouble. My computer has a 512mb hard drive and I just upgraded to 1gb memory. When I check for system optimization through my Tune-up program(not a free one) it tells me I have too many programs installed.

Terminal service virtual channel problem with VB6
by Guest junlia- 0 replies

Hi Everyone, I have implemented sending message via virtual channel to terminal service server app in C#. However, due to the project requirement, I need to re-write this in VB6. However I am having issues with MsRdpClient31.CreateVirtualChannels and MsRdpClient31.SendOnVirtualChannel methods. I received Method 'CreateVirtualChannels' of object 'MsRdpClient31' failed and Method 'SendOnVirtualChannel' of object 'MsRdpClient31' failed errors. If I put in 'On Error Resume Next' statement before the the methods calls, it would skip the first SendOnVirtualChannel call as it would error out, and create the virtual channel even though generate error, an…

Storage Server 2003 Rebuild
by Guest Mike Gallagher- 4 replies

Hi All, We have an HP Fileserver w/ Storage Server 2003 on it. It is attached to an EMC AX150 SAN. There are numerious issues with the server so I have to rebuild it. So I have to rebuild the server this weekend. My question is are there any utilities to help preserve the shares, permissions, etc? The data itself wil remain intact (on the SAN), but after the server is up after the rebuild I'd like to avoid having to manually recreate all those shares. Thanks in advance.

Windows 2000 Server Disk Manager volume mirroring - 1 Terabyte volume mirror limit ? Hello We have been unable to mirror either of our two gigantic PST volumes on our Windows 2000 SP4 server using the native Windows 2000 Disk Manager application since these volumes have have recently been increased in size to over 1 TeraByte. This Windows 2000 File Server accesses it's disk array units from a SAN. We ARE able to mirror several volumes on this same Windows 2000 Server that are in the 700 GB to 850 GB volume size. My question is, is there a 1 TB volume limit in the native Windows 2000 Disk Manager for mirroring ? I have been unable to glean any releva…

Video Game Problem

Hi. I have a computer that is running XP Home, 80G HD, with 79% free space. The computer is used mainly for gaming, specifically PlayOnline Final Fantasy XI. All of a sudden we cannot connect to the game. I have tried doing a connection test, and all seems well. I have tried to uninstall the game, but it will only get part way, then stop and go back to the menu, either add remove/programs or the game disk. I have tried to remove the folder by hand, with no results. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong, or how to correct this?

ok, long story short, hard drive died yadda yadda. Got new ones but now need to set up my system. I have a dell 9100 dimension desktop and I have the recovery disk. I have replaced the hard drives in a RAID 0 set up, but have realised that of course I need to set up the RAID 0 again to get everything to work. As well as this I know there are other things I should be doing but not sure Has anyone got the time to give me a step by step method of sorting all this out? It would be most appreciated. By the way, I know that after all done I'll need to install drivers etc so you dont need to go that far...just the hard drive set up and anything in between ple…
