Legacy Windows Archive ( Read Only )

In Task Manager, I've noticed a prgm. running, Apache.exe. Actually, two instances are running. I've searched and found this: C:\WINDOWS.0\Prefetch\APACHE.EXE-1BDF0C46.pf Suspecting the file's purpose, I compressed it into a .rar file and deleted the original. But still, everytime I reboot, the two instances of Apache.exe are seen in Task Manager. Is this file part of windows? R.A.

Hello-- We have one client machine that cannot run any commands from their command prompt. There are always some cryptic errors that come back. Is there anyway to repair/reinstall the command prompt/DOS window or whatever you call it? Many thanks, sd

This is an amazing and troubling problem. It seems to relate to Windows XP and dual core processors. Simply put, playing a sound advances the system clock. I've seen extremes of about 6 to 10 seconds per minute. I suspect the problem is XP/Intel/MS related. Our PC is a double dual core Intel Xeon: a Dell Precision 690 (which has 2 Dempsey processors, Xeon 5050 series). We are running XP Pro OS 've also seen this on another offbrand PC with a Core 2 processor. This does not happen on non-dual core processor machines. I have checked my Sound Card & Speakers all ok. I can play CDs with full sound but, for no reason I can fathom the normal sound themes are gone (like stating & shutdown etc) I have also been umable to show the volume control in start up even though I have checked the box. The computer is working fine but I keep thinking I have gone deaf. Can anyone please advise a solution. -- Alf

Recently in my Win2K: 'SEARCH ' item on the 'START' button is missing; right-click (on a drive or file) sometimes does nothing and/or 'PROPERTIES' on the right-click menu never works if I do get a menu. I have run Adaware, Spybot, Avast & XoftSpy. They all find nothing of note [log files, and tracking cookies perhaps]. Obviously somthing, somewhere, sometime changed something in the registry I'm guessing. I have looked on Microsoft's knowledge base, but never found anything close to my problem. Documentation suggests the importance of enabling local log on user rights for iusr_computername (the anonymous account taken on by any visitor to a public FTP site) and indeed when I try to enter the site via browser from another box access is denied even though the welcome message I put in there appears. So i just started to get into 3d creating with maya swif.t3d and so on... i'm currently exporting my files and little starter projects as .SWF files. Should i export them to something else? and where and how would i install them to my screen saver so i see them when i'm not using my computer? please help.

It's been a while since I've played with ME. the issue is this, when booting into windows a background picture loads, then upon a user entering his password and his profile loads another (wanted) background loads, how can I get rid of the first background picture. just have a default windows picture loaded.
