I have an XP sp2 machine that takes about 20 minutes to log on. I have a multi site enviornment. When this pc logs on, it is logging in to our DC in Canada, instead of the DC here in the main office. This is why I am assuming the logon takes so long, because its going over a slow 768k WAN link. This is the only PC with this problem. When I boot the pc in safe mode with network support, it logs on fine, and to the correct DC. How can I make it use the correct DC for logging on? DNS is correct, and it is getting the correct ip address. Removing the pc from the domain, and rejoining did not help.

I have a number of files on disk which I THINK are rar files. There is one filename.rar and then a pile of files named....e-filename-jn2k7.r00...e-filename-jn2k7.r02...e-filename-jn2k7.r04...e-filename-jn2k7.r05...e-filename-jn2k7.r06...e-filename-jn2k7.r09...e-filename-jn2k7.r10 etc. Does anyone have any idea as to what these files are? Hi all I have given skype to my users on my network to chat ONLY. Now i have discovered they trasferr files also. How do i block this feature so that they cannot use it?

Trying to run computer in safe mode...wont work for me. What exactely is this and how do I get around it?

On computer with Windows NT Server 4.0 (SP6a) I'm received next message in the Event Log: Source: NETLOGON ID: 3224 Changing machine account password for account <computername>$ failed with the following error: The RPC server is unavailable. Data: 17 00 02 c0 This computer is domain member. Domain controllers is Windows Server 2003. What's is the problem? Michael
