System Won't Boot
by Guest Matthew White- 4 replies

Hi Everyone, I used Paragon Partition Manager to redistribute free space from my D: to my C: system partition. The drives were a dynamic set of 2 disks. Everything appeared to go along fine, but now the system won't boot. I am getting a stop error (stop 0x0000007b), which I believe to be that the system can't find the boot partition. When I boot into the recovery console, I can see all the data, so there is nothing wrong with the disks. How do I set the system straight so that it knows how to boot up? I am running a chkdsk now. The support group from Paragon does not open for another 8 hours, so I was hoping someone could help out. Regards, …

hello, i recently bought a new samsung 320gb SATA II drive, OEM: http://www.samsung.com/Products/HardDiskDrive/SpinPointTSeries/HardDiskDrive_SpinPointTSeries_HD321KJ.asp (http://tinyurl.com/38s8bw) ....i installed it in a dell optiplex GX280, which according to the bios sees it as a 320gb drive. then i used the w2k install cd to re- install windows on it. the problem -- windows 2000 server is only seeing it as a 128gb drive, both in the win installer and in "Disk Management" post-installation. i installed SP4 and the latest bios for the dell (A08). any ideas on why it wouldnt be showing up at full capacity? ive never owned a SATA drive before, so may…

Blank results list with fully indexed drive
by Guest Davin- 2 replies

When I type in the search box in the explorer task bar, I currently get a completely blank Windows Desktop Result popup pane. If I use the full blown Desktop Search window, it works as expected. It was working great until a couple of days ago. I tried upgrading from 2.0.6[?] to 3.0.1 thinking that might fix the problem, but its still happening. I miss my live as a I type search results. Any ideas on how I can get them back! The only thing I can think is that I uninstalled on older version of Symantec antivirus, but can't see how that could be related. Any help gratefully received - has anyone else seen this issue?? Davin.

Regedit: error while deleting key
by Guest Sal- 3 replies

I'm trying to delete the registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\LPTENUM] as per the recommendation in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298370/en-us. However, when I try to delete it regedit returns: "error while deleting key". How can a delete this key and try to solve the New Hardware Found wizard from reappearing every time I boot? I've tried deleting the printer and unplugging it and still can't delete the key. If I go into Device Manager to try to delete the driver, it isn't even there. That's right, no driver in Device Manager. This problem is driving me crazy. If I could only delete that key at least I think I…

Reinstalled XP on a New hard drive
by Guest Gena Z- 2 replies

My hard drive crashed and I was unable to boot. Since my documents were not backed up I purchased a new hard drive, and reinstalled XP with the hopes of being able to access my files from the orignal hard drive. The installation went fine and I am now able to access certain folders on my old hard drive. However, I cannot access files under my user profile in My Documents. I get the error message that access is denied. I have a feeling this is due to a conflict in the user profiles from XP on the old drive and XP on the new drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vista To XP, Whats Wrong?
by Guest Roberto- 4 replies
Bought a computer with Vista. Es no bueno (at least right now.) I had a computer with a working XP hard drive. Ive succesfully taken that HD out of the old computer and pluged it into the new one. Now the issue: Computer starts, it recognizes the hard drive. I see the XP boot up screen for maybe 5 seconds, and then the computer restarts. I am able to access it in safe mode, so at least I know I didnt completely screw things up. Its almost like its restarting the computer before XP has a chance to boot. Questions/solutions anyone?

Windows Update not normal
by Guest MN- 1 reply

After logging into Win XP as administrator, the Windows Update icon appeared in the notification area of the task bar (bottom right of desktop screen). As I have done numerous times before, I initiated the update process, and then hovering the mouse pointer over the icon, was displayed "Downloading 0%". However, the "0%" did not increase as it normally would. Instead, after a few minutes, the icon disappeared. Subsequent logons as administrator displayed the Windows Update icon, and hovering the mouse pointer over the icon, was displayed "Downloading 0%". Again, after a few minutes, the icon disappeared and nothing was downloaded. NO ERROR MESSAGE APPE…

My computer has 2.6Ghz Celeron Processor, 512 RAM connecting with a wireless connection. My internet browser is Firefox 2.0.0.4 I have very choppy video playback when I go on youtube.com or netflix or other video in websites and the quality of the image is poor compared to when I first got the computer. I have updated all video software, scanned my computer for viruses and used spybot. How can adjust how much buffer size is being used when playback, does having java and activex working together make the computer run any slower?

by Guest t.hilchey- 7 replies

I am trying to resote my fathers computer. He has XP Pro SP2. It crashed and won't boot to hard drive. When I run the XP disk and load the repair option it's all good untill I get to the Recovery Console screen. From most of what I've read online, it supposed to look like this: "The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality." "Type EXIT to quit the Recovery Console and restart the computer." "1. C:WINDOWS" But this says: "The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality." "Type EXIT to quit the Recovery Console and restart the computer." "The path or file specified is not valid." "C:\>" Do you think…
