Dual Boot Sys & Apps
by Guest Roland A.- 3 replies

For a dual boot Windows system, for Win2k and WinXP, is there any way to avoid dual installations of apps? E.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader, is there a way of avoiding having to install the reader for both systems so as to avoid doubling the apps space on HD? Thanks, r.a.

Why is an enviroment variable not updated correctly in a for loop.

If I run the following script in a directory with two files named test1.txt & test2.txt, FILELIST should have the value of "Test2.txt;Test1.txt;NOFILES". Instead it has the value of "Test2.Txt;NOFILES". Can any one tell me why? Or how to get it to work correctly? @SET FILELIST=NOFILES @for %%f in (*.txt) do @( @echo %%f @set FILELIST= %%f;%FILELIST% @echo %FILELIST% ) Thanks,

I installed Microsoft Robotics Studio (MSRS) many times, and most of them I got this "Rename temp file failed" error during the setup (even though it happened to work a few times). Do you know how to solve this problem? I remember that once I uninstalled it after getting that error, and reinstalled it in D:\ instead of C:, and that time it worked. The only difference between C and D is that my C drive is FAT32 whereas D is in NTFS. Do you think this could be a problem? Please let me know, since I really need this to work these days... Changing audio volume causes a beep
by Guest PSiegmann@mail.nu- 1 reply

Hi newsgroup. There is an annoyance with XP, that I noticed already years ago.. but I never decided to to something about it. Until now. OK: when you change the volume level (with sndvol32.exe) of the general channel (not wave, sw-synthesizer etc. but the one the far left), it will cause a "beep" of the system speaker. Of course, everything works ok, and I noticed that not only on this PC, it seems to be by design. That behavior never occured with earlier windows versions. So, how to turn that beep off? It's very distracting.

Problem setting printers on W2K3 R2 Server
by Guest Mark- 0 replies

I am having a problem setting up printers on my future print server. I have tried to use DLC, but it never installed as expected (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f5a88f75-4e05-4fba-bf13-2cd53d023786&displaylang=en), and never gave me DLC as a port type when configuring the printers. When I go into the properties of the LAN connection under Network Connections, it lists DLC Protocol as an installed item, but that is about the extent of it. Any ideas what I should do or try? Mark

by Guest Cindy B- 3 replies

Can I do a system restore on a Win 2003 R2 server? I'm guessing the answer is no... and... If not, is there a way to a Windows "fix" like you can with XP? I'm getting some ethernet controller errors, that I'm hoping to able to fix quickly and easily. If both the above answers are no - I'll do some more research... -- Cindy

by Guest Shaun EN- 5 replies

We purchased 10 Open License TSE Cals and installed and activated the license server and all is well with that. However the new clients are still grabbing the temporary licenses. I have gone to HKEY Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing and deleted that whole key. However when device connects to the Terminal Server again it grabs another Temp License. How do we stop this? We purchased Device CALs. Thanks Shaun

Terminal Server 2000 Question
by Guest confused- 4 replies

Hi People, I have 3 server, 1 SBS 2000, 1 TS Server (W2K) and 1 APP Server (W2K). After playing with the TS Server for over 90 days.....its now locked. Now when I go to install the TS Licensing Server on the SBS 2000 Server I get the screen with 'Terminal Server is currently configured to use - Remote Administration'. Now do I leave this as it is or choose Applications Server Mode?. The main reason I ask is that I use the remote TS admin a lot and dont want to lose it. Many thanks for your help.
