audio codecs with multimedia board
by Guest Mike De Petris- 3 replies

Hi, as written in Hauppauge WinTV HVR-4000 thread I have problems listening to tv and FM radio analog channels, audio is bad and jerky. I would like to check what software is involved in the audio processing, as the same problem does not happen with digital tv and radio channels. I see I can use gspot ffshow and a lot of codec- related tools fon my xp x64 but all seem oriented at multimedia avi- wav files, how can I analyze the the audio data stream from the pci board and drivers? Note that that board has no audio cable, all the video and audio data flows through pci and is filtered and decoded by software. I had a similar bad-audio experience when I insta…

System Tray on Taskbar
by Guest trvlnmny- 5 replies

When XP started I always say some icons in the system tray portion of the taskbar. Particularly Norton Ghost, Norton Internet Security and a couple of others. I no longer see these. The system tray is empty. I do not know what changed this. I am not absolving myself as it is possible I did something but I do not know what. My real concern is that these programs are not running. Is that possible? How do I correct this? Thanks for any and all advice.

I have installed Windows 2003 server on a new Dell 2900. This machine has a raid 5 config of 500 gig. I took the default c: partition size of 12 gig when I installed. This machine will be run Terminal server and also act as a file server. I have now realize with Program Files and Document and Settings folders on this partition we'll have immediate problem. I'm either going to have to resize the C: partition *or* reconfigure the system with these folders on a new drive. There isn't a lot of information on this subject available. How are the real world admins doing this? My gut reaction is to simply divide the array right in two 250 gig volumes, …

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion a820n, which has a mother board: Motherboard manufacturer's name: ASUS PTGD1-LA HP/Compaq name: Goldfish-GL8E OS: Windows XP home. CPU:3.20 GHz, Intel Pentium 4 HT processors Memory: 2.5 G I would like to replace the on-board video. The strang thing is that even though I set video to PCI from on-board, the on-board video output still has signal out. The video card, on the other hand, has not signal out. I had test that video card on other machine. BTW, I first uninstall the video display driver first before I change the BIOS setttings. Anyone can help me out? Thanks in advance

(if I put something on the desktop I can delete it, just seems to be shortcuts, even ones I have put on) hope you can understand what I am saying & that you are able to help. Thanks -- F.E.N.D

installation problems with Windows XP
by Guest michael with the reinstall- 5 replies

I am trying to reintall Windows XP from the manufacture CD and several files are not installing from the CD mostly .inf files. The error message said "cannot copy this file from CD makes sure CD is inserted into the drive. Try again. After several failed attempts I skipped over the files. After the install I cannot change my monitor type or install the drivers for the monitor. I suspect the files that did not copy from the CD have a lot to do with the inablility to change the Display settings under properties.
