Hi, I'm in charge of planning a new network for our company. Because of limited financial and human resources our idea is to run it completely with W2K8 Terminal Services RemoteApp. At the moment we got one headquarter and two independent branch offices connected over the internet via VPN: - Headquarter: 10 Workstations, 2 MBit SDSL (2000/2000) - Branch 1: 5 Workstations, 1 MBit SDSL (1000/1000) - Branch 2: 2 Workstations, 128 kBit ISDN (128/128) (rural area, no DSL!) I already installed a W2K3 TS at HQ and people in HQ are working over 100 MBit LAN without problems. My plan is to deploy a W2K8 TS at the HQ, so the branch offices can work …

I've a TS Gateway published to the internet, which is remote.domain.com, settings is done properly to authenticate server via SSL, yet whenever i connect to internal TS servers via the TS Gateway, it gives me the message that says" identity of the server can't be verified because there is no license for the internal server name that i'm trying to connect to, but it is for the name of the TS Gateway which i'm connecting through!! what is wrong? Can anybody help, shouldn't i have onlt the certificate for the TS Gateway or for the TS servers behind it? Thanks in Advance

AVG8.0 has treated the AsusUpdate (7.13.04 ) as a trojan (a back door trojan). When I download the latest version or update it via the AsusUpdate program, it is locked by AVG as an threat alert !!! Any suggestions - internet data card - Pay as you go Service? *************************************************************************** I have 2 questions. 1. I am in the process of buying a laptop . The new laptop does not have a slot for an internet datacard to be inserted ...can only accomodate a USB device for internet data service. I use internet explorer 7 every now and again it crashes and an error report is created. I can not auto update windows at the moment. I am trying to cancel an installation of Windows XP Pro. I discovered that I am using the wrong disc (installed on another machine) and want to install Windows Home. However the machine is putting me thru hell by not allowing me to cancel the installation, it simply keeps cycling to the point where it asks for the product key over and over. Removing the disc generates an error that causes a reboot that asks for the disc and then goes thru install again and is in an infinite friggin loop. I am completely fed up. How can I stop this?

I get the above message when I run briefcase. The files it shows are identical, so why is it showing them at all. Because of this the briefcase is always showing as needing to be updated. What has gone wrong here?

In the past, when I clicked on a .jpg file a microsoft (I think) viewer would show me the photo. I recently had to reload all software and now a third party software is doing it. I want to go back to the microsoft ... or have the ability to change the default photo viewer. How can I do that? Thanks much! Mike

Hi all, I have two scheduled tasks: One to have wizmo force the computer to standby at 10 pm, the other to start Internet Explorer at 6:15 am to wake the computer from standby. Both tasks work fine, but upon wakeup, the monitor doesn't turn on. I have to move the mouse to wake up the monitor. This isn't really a problem at all obviously as I have to move the mouse anyway; more of a discussion point/loose end to tie up: Is there something to run at the command line to force the monitor to turn on? That way I could put the IE startup and the monitor wakeup command in a batch file and run that instead at 6:15. If not, is there some setting somewhere…

Hi, My computer (with WindowsXP) was accidentally restored. A FPGA simulation software Modelsim PE 6.2c student version, which is obsolete now, cannot removed. It is not shown in Control panel. There is no uninstall function either. The same version cannot be found because it is substitute with the newer version. Could you tell me how to remove this obsolete software? Thanks a lot.

Hi there, I recently purchased a used Dell 2650 and need to re-install the OS. The server shipped originally with Windows Server Enterprise 2003, 1-8 CPU, 25 Clt. I have the Product Key on the CoA on the case of the server but no CD/DVD media. My first point of call will of course be Dell but I am guessing they will only have replacement media for R2 in stock. Should Dell be unable to supply replacement media what other options do I have? Would Microsoft be willing to replace the media? Is it possible to obtain an evaluation version and enter my Product Key to 'unlock' it as the previous owner seems to think? Failing all of the above options i…

I got a new WD 320 GB IDE ATA hdd, but plugging it in as second drive (drive "1") it shows up in Disk Management as "Unallocated" with size = 128 GB. Help! Should I f-disk or format it? And why does the "WELCOME TO THE WRITE SIGNATURE AND UPGRADE WIZARD" screen pop up wanting me to create a 'dynamic disk'? I'd sure like to get it installed as a 320Gb disk if that is possible. Or as partitions that total that size if I must. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Bob

When I move my mouse pointer over the icons in the Taskbar/Notification Bar, I have previously been able to see the status and/or names of these icons. Now when I move the mouse pointer over them, nothing shows at all. Has a setting changed?
