Major Folder Redirection Issues
by Guest circulent- 2 replies

We are using folder redirection. For some reason we have a few end users which cannot sync correctly. This is the error we get: Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "RoamingAppData" to "\\sql1\profiles$\mlee\Application Data". Redirection options=80009211. The following error occurred: "Failed to redirect because the destinaiton directory "\\sql1\profiles$\mlee\Application Data" is offline". Error details: "The network path was not found. What's odd is that we can access SQL just fine, and the partition called PROFILES is properly shared as PROFILES$. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be broken? Thanks

XP & Vista to 2000
by Guest Information- 6 replies

Due to budget limitations, I am working with the following: We have a Win2000 workstation (SP4) that houses a database program to be accessed through a shared folder to the remainder of our stations. Station 1 is an XP Home box (SP3), Station 2 is a Vista laptop (SP1). XP and Vista can see each other, but only the XP box has a printer shared. Vista can see that, and a temporary shared test folder, We removed the folder share after seeing it worked. Neither can access the shared folder on the 2000 box. Both XP and Vista firewalls are disabled, there is no Norton or McAfee installed, only AVG. I have added the user/passwords to the user list on the 2000 ma…

search indexer just.. will.. not.. STOP
by Guest Argh!- 2 replies

It keeps popping up in my process list after I manually end it. Yes, I've disabled it with services.msc and no, it won't STAY disabled. And no, there's no "Windows Search" or similar entry in the Add/Remove list -- or the Installer Clean Up utility or anywhere else on the HD that I can find -- in order to uninstall it. I'm sure someone will ask me WHY I would even want it gone, so let me head u off. First, it's a resource hog -- it sits there, does nothing for me, yet eats up, on average, 25MB of memory. Second, I never use it. Third, because of reasons 1 & 2, it annoys me that it refuses to stay down. So, the $64,000 is... how do I get RID of…

Tracking down registry startup..
by Guest carlos- 2 replies

Dear All, Every time the computer boots something in the registry causes a "My Computer" window to pop up It's not in win.ini system startup etc as I disabled all in msconfig.exe and still the "My Computer" window pops up It's not in the usual places like Run, RunServices as I searched with nothing to find. I want to track down in a log file what activity takes place in the registry as the computer is turned on so that I may find what is causing the "My Computer" window to pop up. Thanking you in advance, Carlos.

Non-System Disk, Press Any Key
by Guest JCO- 4 replies

One of my computers gets this error when trying to boot: Non-System Disk, Press Any Key When I press any key, it boots up okay most of the time but sometimes it blue screens. The harddrive is in a removable tray. I've taken the HD out and put in another drive. I get the same issue, therefore, I don't think it's HD controller (I think?). What else would give this error? Also, this seem to happen on with IDE2 only. When I boot using IDE1.... no issues. Does this mean I have an issue with the motherboard's IDE2 Socket. Thanks.

I have problem in controlling which devices are allowed to be enabled and disabled by users on Remote Desktop Tab of TS Web Access. I have set "true" to XClipboard and xDriverRedirection, and "false" to other redirection options in Application Settings of ts website. But the ts web page does not honor such changes (Printers option is still enabled and Drives option is disabled). Any one knows the fix? Thanks.

Unreadable/unchangeable fonts
by Guest kenw- 2 replies

I've found many threads which are oh-so-close to describing my problem -- but no solutions. The displayed font for dialogs, etc are a in tiny little font which in nearly unreadable. An example is the "Turn off computer" dialog: The font on the title bar looks to be courier (but other dialog title bars have a different font). It says "Turn off compu" before the text get clipped. The yellow, red, and green icons are not squares but rectangles. The "cancel" font is in a tiny font. I cannot affect any of these fonts through the Display Properties: Appearance: Advanced tab even though the preview indicates the change. I don't know if this has any bearing,…

Hi! We have some legacy code that uses OLE DB to connect to a SQL server. After migrating to Windows Server 2008, the code stopped working. The error we are seeing is 80040E4D, "Invalid authorization specification". Below is the VBScript that we use to reproduce the error. This script runs without problems on Server 2003 and XP computers but fails on any 2008 box. Any help is appreciated! dim sConnection sConnection = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Data Source=******;Database=*****;UID=*****;PWD=*****;" dim cnExecute Set cnExecute = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") cnExecute.Open sConnection dim rs Set rs = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") rs.ActiveConnection = …
