I'm sure a/v screen cap software exists. But not so sure there would be a free version. Does anyone know of such a thing? Recommendations? Recommendations for not-so-free versions of same?... but not too expensive either? Thanks. —Thri

(KB948110) Security Update for Win Server 2003
by Guest ColTom2- 1 reply

Hi: I posted the following in WindowsUpdate Newsgroup some days back, but no one ever replied, so I thought that I would try this Newsgroup to see if possibly someone might have an answer. ********** I have a friend running XP Home Edition SP3 and Windows Update is trying to install Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB948110) which I would think is an erroneous update for XP. I could not find this update installed on my XP computers so why would it be trying to install on his? I am sure there is a solution to this problem other than just placing the update in Hidden Updates status. Thanks....

Files moving on their own
by Guest B~- 7 replies

I have a problem with a few users where they will try to move or delete files in their share folder and they keep coming back or will move back to the origional folder whenever the user reboots or logs back on to the server. We are running Windows 2003 R2 Small Business Server with syncronized files. The users "My Documents" are mapped to their user drive. I have tried turning off the syncronized files, that did not work. I tried moving the files from the server itself, and when the user logs in, the files are back in the origional position. This is only going on with 2 users at this time and then I have another user that whenever he is off line and w…

Swap Drive Letters and User's Folder?
by Guest Steve Meyerson- 3 replies

My Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop became unbootable when I attempted to install SP3 for XP Pro. My plan was to do a complete reinstall. My data's backed up on an external drive, so I tried to reformat, but was rejected. It showed 3 partitions (I thought I had only one) and wouldn't let me delete any of them. I can live with the "extra" partitions, so I went ahead with the install, but during the install, about 40 files were missing (it said). So I did a "Repair" only. It seemed to work fine and the computer functions ok, but I have two glitches (which I probably caused somehow) I'm hoping someone can help me with. 1. Somehow it (or I?) installed the OS on Driv…

Remove Incoming connections with no GUI
by Guest SSI- 0 replies

Im trying to figure out where the Incomming connections on Server 2K3 are stored. I need to write a script to remove them from 2200 servers but im not finding a registry key or a file that is associated with it. Stoping the remoreconnections Service wont work for me as the machines must still be able to initiate dial-up connections. I currently have a vbs to do this but it must be run interactively which wont work for me in this case. Thoughts?

A solution to a weird problem
by Guest Carlos- 4 replies

I want to share this solution to a problem that showed up 1 week ago. Opening any video file with WMP in Vista x64 would cause an instant reboot of my PC. No BSOD (though I have activated not to reboot instantaneously and show the BSOD), no traces in event viewer, no leads, no hunches, no nothing. This sudden reboot was not reproducible and/or predictable. The only common factor was playing a video with WMP, but not always. I began suspecting of my brand new Powercolor ATI 4850 card, first ATI after many years of faithfulness to Nvidia, which had been installed two weeks ago (counting back from today). So I fired up system restore and "rewound" my PC 5 days …

We host our applications on terminal server and implement a customized html page that uses the MSRDP ActiveX control. The problem that we have is with clients complaining that when they open another link on their workstation, the IE window with our TS session surrenders control and allows navigation away. I know the recommended solution is to uncheck the "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" or the similar settings for tabbed browsers. The problems with this is at some larger clients their domain Group Policies restore the settings so the clients have to repeat it every day and sometimes multiple times throughout the day. We looked into handling t…

Help with IE7 Tabs Server 2003x64 R2
by Guest rjcmi- 1 reply

I am running Terminal Server under Windows Server 2003x64 R2. The individual users are not able to used tabbed browsing in their sessions. I have looked though the GPO for the individual units but can not locate the setting to enable tabs. Do I need to install a separate administrative template? If I go into the individual user setting, tabs are enabled, but it makes no difference. I'm still pretty new to this system so any help would be appreciated.
