Access error in Terminal Server
by Guest CCripe- 1 reply

In an Access 2003 database, there is a macro that captures the user's environ name and inserts it in a field. To make this work, the user must go into Macro=>Security and set the security level to low. This works fine everywhere but TS. If you set the macro security to low on TS, the function works for a day or so, then it stops working and you get this error: "The expression you entered has a function name that (database name) can't find." If they go in and tell it AGAIN to set the macro security to low in Access, it will work for awhile and then stops. It doesn't seem to matter what rights the person has; Administrator, Power User, etc. All …

Mouse jumping problem

About a year ago I built a new Windows XP Pro SP3 desktop computer using a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L/S3L motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I installed a matched pair of 1GB DDR memory sticks and a Western Digital Caviar SATA 300 hard drive with a capacity of 500GB. I used my old Logitech TrackMan Marble FX mouse and my old Microsoft Natural Keyboard. These both connect via the conventional PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports on the motherboard. That is, I'm not using a USB mouse and keyboard. This computer has worked very well except for one problem. The mouse pointer won't always stay where I've put it. From time to time it will go zipping across the sc…

Start menu
by Guest Emrys Davies- 15 replies

I have Win98 SE, OE6 and IE6. I am curious to know of which system the 'Start' menu is a part. I have read lots about it on Google and although there are lots of good articles about it and its components no one says whether it is part of Windows, Windows Explorer or Outlook Express. I suspect that it is the former but would someone put me out of my misery? Thanks, Emrys Davies.

VPN Connections to TS server
by Guest SJMP- 1 reply

Terminal Server 2003. I have routing and remote access configured. I see the users connect to the server. But when I try to make a remote access connection back to their machine the entire connection including the client (remote) machine gets hung. I disconnect the session from the routing and remote access console, but the remote machine gets hung. The remote machine is running Vista SP1. The problem is only on this 1 remote access server (TermServer). My old TS running windows 2003 sp2 can make the connection fine. Any idea? Thanks, SJMP

what is the optimal RAM for w2003 x64 bit system with roles as file server, AD, and DC? the number users is only about 4 to 10 users. I guess the security software needs a 1 GB anytime, backup sotfware may consume 2 GB at night. when in the current w2k3 32 bit config, the commit charge is only typically 452 to 600M

Hi, I encountered these error msg. How to resolve it ? Starting test: KnowsOfRoleHolders The directory service on TPEDC01 has not finished initializing. In order for the directory service to consider itself synchronized, it must attempt an initial synchronization with at least one replica of this server's writeable domain. It must also obtain Rid information from the Rid FSMO holder. The directory service has not signalled the event which lets other services know that it is ready to accept requests. Internet Wi-Fi Connectivity with W98
by Guest PeeDee- 4 replies

I still have a ThinkPad 240, which is loaded with W98 and I prefer to carry because this notebook is much lighter than my current ThinkPad, and still does many things. However, it is my belief that the 240 cannot take advantage of Wi-Fi environments here and there because W98 does not support that technology, even if the 240 has an Internet card in its PC card slot. Does anyone know if there is a way to download files or drivers (whatever) to make W98 able to connect to the Internet using a Wi-Fi card, or some other device, in the card slot? Thanks

Problems with ActiveX Control - Snapshot Viewer
by Guest dch3- 0 replies

Can someone please explain to me why after installing SnapShot Viewer Access periodically craps out when I use it as an ActiveX Control? I suspect that its a Windows issue as I just recently started having problems on my new Dell laptop - Windows XP SP3. My only workaround is to delete the key from the registry and reinstall it. It works for a while and then craps out. Basically, its used as an ActiveX control on an Access form. For awhile it works, and then it craps out ("Access doesn't support this ActiveX control.") when I try to add a new control. The existing control is simply blank although the class name and what not appears to be correct.
