  1. Glad that you found a way around it (y) Not every Win10 system gives access to Group Policy Editor - but the Registry option should work for everybody :)
  2. msconfig should show you what is in the Start-Up. I should have asked you to click on "Start-Up" after typing ......msconfig ..... and hitting Enter - my error :( You should see this: If you look in "Start-Up" is there anything there relating to Amazon ?
  3. Hi Jim In the Search Box type ......msconfig ....... hit Enter Is there anything there relating to Amazon ?
  4. Hi Jim, Go to "Start" [ bottom left of screen ] then click on Control Panel [ see my post #13 ] Programs and Features > Programs Look for Amazon Assistant [ or anything Amazon related ] right click > Uninstall.
  5. Hopefully it will stay fixed Jim :)
  6. Hi ZerDog and welcome. Firstly I must state that we are not gamers here so advice may be limited - especially in relation to gaming problems. Is your PC slow even when you are not playing games? Two things to look at: 1. - Look at the used space on your main drive. If you have less than 15% available this will slow your system down. 2. - You have 16GB RAM - probably in two modules. [ or more ] Turn off the power at the wall socket first. Take one of the modules out and try the system. If no different put that module back in and take another out. If it runs better with a module out - the problem lies with the RAM.
  7. Jim If you click on the Search Orb [ bottom left of screen ] you should see this : If you click on "Computer" you should be able to locate C:. =============== Regarding System Restore It depends how long you have been having this problem - there may not be a restore point that far back. Also - this is usually a last resort.
  8. Hi Jim Resetting the "User Profile" can often sort problems like this. I don't have Win7 so I can't check the following - hope it is correct. Shut down Open Office. In the Search Box type - my computer Click on - C: then Users > then "Your Name" Now click on - App Data > then Roaming > Open Office > 4 When you click on 4 you should see "User" - this is where your profile if held. DON'T CLICK ON THIS YET. We need to rename this User Folder. Right click on it and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Rename" "user" will be highlighted in the box Click in the box TO THE RIGHT of "user" and add .old ....................hit ENTER You should now see user.old ............ [ user - dot - old ] Now open Open Office again. It will be forced to create a new "user" folder and profile. Hopefully this will sort your problem.
  9. My error Jim - just noticed you are using Win 7 :( It isn't quite so simple in Win7 - but is possible to clear Clipboard Data In the Search box type ....cmd ....a window should pop up left of screen Right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator" You will be taken to a black screen "Command Prompt" Now type in ....... echo off ¦ clip ..... hit Enter There is a space after each word / symbol The ¦ is typed by holding CTRL + Alt down then hitting the key with the ¦ symbol on it. or at least it is on my keyboard. This will clear the clipboard of all data. ====================== Do you get the same effect if you use CTRL + Shift + V ?
  10. You should be able to get to it by simply typing .....clipboard ... in the search box.
  11. What about my second suggestion Jim ?
  12. Hi Jim, Open Notepad [ type notepad into the search box bottom left of screen ] Type something Highlight > CTRL + C Use CTRL + V to paste. Does copy / paste work here ? ================ Try this : Type ....settings ..... into the search box then hit Enter Click on ....System Click on .... Clipboard Turn Off Clipboard History if on Clear Clipboard Data
  13. It is OK for me too. You could try deleting the cache and cookies in Edge to see if that is causing the problem. click here You may need to login to sites like this one again that need a name and password.
  14. Welcome :)
  15. Just butting in here .... Did you tick the box to view more restore points ?
  16. I assume that you have gone back to the original setting? Can you access the RAM easily? If you can - take one module out and run on just the one module. If you get problems swap the modules over. If it runs better on just one module this indicates a problem with the other module.
  17. Welcome Organgrinder :)
  18. If you can afford a new one I am sure that you will be much happier :)
  19. Hi Joe, You asked about help with a laptop a while back and never got back to us ?? We will need more background information re "services" and "safe mode" if we are to be able to make any suggestions. Is this Win 10 ? Which service are you trying to enable? How are you trying to access safe mode? Providing too much information is better than not enough.
  20. Hi Jimmy. On the face of it, it sounds like a good deal. HOWEVER - if you read the reviews you will find a lot of unhappy people. "Refurbished" does not indicate quality. You may be lucky - but on the other hand you may be buying trouble. I don't know what Walmart customer services are like. If you had to return it, would they be sympathetic or would you hit a brick wall ?
  21. Hi Bob and welcome to ExTS Assume you are connecting the phone to computer via a USB cable ? On my phone I always have to go to settings > Connected Devices and there select USB. Hope this helps.
  22. Hi Jim Try downloading it from here - click here Major Geeks is a trusted site. EDIT Starbuck got there first :) Try his link first.
  23. Hi - sorry, I missed your original post :( Can you get to a command prompt? A recent M$ update has caused havoc on many machines. Take a look at what Starbuck posted here - click here If you can access a command prompt try uninstalling kb:5000802 At the prompt type ......... wusa /uninstall /kb:5000802 ...... hit Enter [ space before each / ] Also run sfc /scannow ......... there is a space after sfc This really needs to be done via elevated command prompt. If you can access the BIOS [ UEFI] look for an option to Boot From USB and move this to the top of the Boot Order. You will need to Save & Exit [ usually F10 ]
