Is Lava ad check the same as an AdAware scan? If not, what is it?
Guest Jack S Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Computer getting "unresponsive" I've got all the MS updates, firewall, AV. My computer is getting sticky and unresponisve, and it seems like it got that way right after an MS security update. By unresponsive, I mean when I type something in, or hit enter, there's a pause before anything shows up or occurs. It's extremely annoying, it's definitely not my imagination, I haven't changed anything system settings, and it seems like it's been associated with a MS update(s). Any thoughts or suggestions fro checking things? I've run a total system virus check, a Lava ad check, and nothing showed up. Thanks

From there, you will have a better idea of what it is you need to fix - if anything. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx You may find, for example, that you now have Microsoft Update (instead of Windows Update) running and it's searching for updates to *all* MS products on your system - and this can really slow things down, for up to half an hour. Guest Gerry Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Re: Computer getting "unresponsive" Jack Laptop or desktop computer? Wireless keybord and mouse? Change batteries? How much RAM? Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak? I would be interested in seeing a Disk Defragmenter report. Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it is more informative. -- Hope this helps.
