A folder changed to a "file"

Anyone know how to get past a folder that has decided to be a file?

 

I have been working off an SD card and found the shortcuts on my

desktop leading to a "file" now instead of a folder. The the file

says it is only 2kb, however, the old contents were somewhere

around..... 84mb of excel, word, and access files.

 

 

Help.....please......

I'd try a data recovery utility...

it's possible the SD card might have come with one
