System Restore did not complete successfully... (0x90070091) Win 10 x64

Having created some restore points in the past, expecting to need them after future updates get done and things start to not work as they do with a fresh install of an os does.

 

Yesterday, I went to do this and none of my restore named items were present, so I picked the furthest back that was.

 

This is the error I got, and not just this time but it has been the same with the last 3 fresh OS installs done in the last year, getting this failed restore error.

The error id given seems meaningless, not specific.

settings were not changed.

System Restore failed while restoring the directory from the restore point.
