Guest rocketjetz Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 https://www.extremetech.com/computing/294290-microsoft-kills-automatic-registry-backups-in-windows-10 The BAD news: They killed automatic registry backups, something that was working fine, and instead want you to use Restore Points, which we all know is one of the flakiest components in Windows. The reason: the Registry backup was taking up too much disk space! In the day and age of people having multi-terrabyte disk drives..... The GOOD News: You can still enable Automatic Registry Backups with a simple Registry edit per the article. I've been using Registry Backup and Restore for the past 6 months and it works fine. It uses VSS to make a shadow copy of the Registry hives just like Restore Points does. I will continue to use it along with this new registry edit. You can never have too many registry backups.
