Guest frosty 117360 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I've spent the last few hours going through page after page of supposed solutions to stopping Windows Defender, more specifically this task, from running. None have worked. Even with Windows Defender supposedly being disabled, Antimalware Service Executable is devouring my CPU and Disk usage on seemingly nothing. No scans are running and it shouldn't be tasked with doing anything regardless, especially considering I use Avast as my antivirus, not Windows Defender. A few notes: -Windows Defender has all of its settings turned off, so it's disabled. -I've gone into the whole deal of not allowing it to scan again as well. The whole "DisableAntiSpyware" edit didn't help. -I can't use secpol or gpedit solutions because apparently they aren't available to Windows 10 Home. (Kinda feels like my own operating system is holding my laptop hostage, not going to lie, as salty as I may be.) I really hope someone here had a solution which isn't the same as these sites have reposted over and over again. Because I just can't use my laptop in this state. More... Quote
