curiousgeorge Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Hi guys i recently was given a samsung all in one pc love it apart from no cd/dvd is detected so i go to start regedit look for lowerclass and upperclass to delete them but they are not listed does this mean there is no cd/dvd installed on my machine? any help would be geat thank you Quote
KenB Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Hi George, does this mean there is no cd/dvd installed on my machine? No not at all George - sometimes the upper and lower filters are not there. If they were - in your case - you were going to delete them anyway :) If you go to Device Manager [ Start > type in...devmgmt.msc ...hit Enter ] 1. what is listed against CD / DVD ? 2. Any red Xs or yellow exclamation marks ? 3. Which model number Samsung do you have ? curiousgeorge Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Hi Ken i have a DPU250 just checked what you said cd/dvd is not even listed Quote
KenB Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Just checked the Samsung site - click here - only VGA and WiFi drivers available which is ODD !! just checked what you said cd/dvd is not even listed When you reboot the system if there are no drivers present Windows should detect "new hardware" and install default drivers. If it isn't doing this there may be a fault with the hardware itself. It could be as simple as a bad / loose connection to the DVD drive. Try this FixIt - click here [ for XP - Vista - Win-7 ...] Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! curiousgeorge Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Sorry the reason i was given this is because sometimes the screen does this on start up sometimes it sorts its self sometimes not any ideas please Quote
KenB Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Hi George Is the screen just the central "white" area ? This could be linked to a faulty Video Card or driver. You could look at updating the drivers using the link to the Samsung site that I gave you. I doubt that this is the cause - but it is worth a try. If the motherboard is easily accessible you could try using a can of compressed air to shift the dust. You can do this through the vents [ less effective ] Compressed air available at most computer stores / car spares places etc. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! curiousgeorge Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Sorry Ken what do mean central white area? Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 You normally get distortions like that when there is excess heat within the system (normally the graphics card, which will be onboard in yours by the looks of it) you can try the compressed air as has already been suggested. If you have more than one GPU port on the back of the PC try another because its not uncommon for one to stop working with all the plugging in/out Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.

curiousgeorge Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Hi guys stripped it down heres what i have although it does look quite clean in here Quote
KenB Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Hi George, I thought that your pics were after you had cleaned it. [ from your comment - obviously not :) ] Can you run it with the panel off? If so - give this a try. You could also direct a fan onto the motherboard. If it runs better with the panel off it would seem to be an over-heating issue. KenB Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 the stress test is taking forever over an hour is this normal? No - I would have thought that it should complete in far less lime :( This video only runs Furmark for 60 seconds - Did you get any results ? KenB Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 This doesn't look good George I suspect that the "Graphics Card" was on its way out and the stress test has finished it off. :( Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
