My mum has a Canon MG6150 which she uses occasionally for printing b/w documents. She seems to be forever replacing the colour cartridges even though she never prints out in colour.

I gather this is a known issue caused by the cleaning cycle purging ink and the printer not letting you print in black and white if one of the colour cartridges is out of ink.

Could anyone suggest a reliable and simple to set up replacement?

Hi,

I can relate to your mum's problem.

I assume she switches it off after using ? Hence the cleaning cycle each time.

I tend to leave mine on because of this.

If she only wants to print black / white you could consider a cheap monochrome laser printer.

You can get these quite cheaply now.

They will print approx. 2500 + sheets before the cartridge needs replacing. [ some print more ]

Google "monochrome laser printers"

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
