Guest Irena Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Hi. I have the WXP Pro. edition and I am asking two questions. Firstly, the Floppy Disk drive had deleted itself from my computer and I am unable to enable this function. I have recently re-installed this WXP Pro. edition twice with the updates from the Microsoft Windows Update website. And, still I have no A drive. 1) Why is this so? 2) How do I enable this function? Thanks -- --

Guest Rich Barry Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Re: No 'Floppy Disk' drive accessibility Irena, you can enable Floppy Drive in the Bios. Unless the power connector was pulled on it. But opening the case and physically removing the connector would have to occur. Was the computer recently worked on? Guest Irena Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Re: No 'Floppy Disk' drive accessibility Thank you PK. Your post was most helpful. The BIOS was enabled. However, the 'Standsrd CMOS Feature' indicated 'None'. I have enabled this feature and I am most happily using my 'A' drive. Guest Kelly Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Re: No 'Floppy Disk' drive accessibility Hi, 1. Make sure that the floppy cable and power are attached. 2. Verify that the floppy is enabled via the BIOS. Added info: Go to Start/Run/Regedit Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E980-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} The Floppy Disk Drive Is Missing in My Computer Folder http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812489 Floppy Disk Formats That Are Supported in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q309623 And/Or .... Go to Start/Run/services.msc or Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services. In the right pane find Shell Hardware Detection and set it to Automatic.
