Guest Tecknomage Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 OK, boot to WinXP Pro SP2 Install CD and use [R] for to load the Recovery Console. Run CHKDSK /R During the run CHKDSK displays... "CHKDSK is performing additional checking or recovery..." What is meant by "recovery" in this case?

It probably means "recovering incorrectly linked clusters and placing them into files" [which are totally useless for the vast majority of users].
