Guest Janetb Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 How can I set my system so I don't have to log-in everytime I boot up? I'd like to to skip not only the welcome Screen but also the Log on to Windows dialogue box---that is, to have automatic log-in. I had it that way with my old 2KPro before I upgraded to XP recently. I'd like to be able to turn on the computer, go away, and have it ready to use when I come back..... I'm the only one who ever uses the computer. Thanks. Janet

Someone from another forum sent me: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm which did it with one 'uncheck' click and not having to download anything...:-)...I haven't rebotted yet---will let you know if it does not work..... Guest Janetb Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 RE: Automatic log-in? To All: Yes, http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm worked fine with simply unchecking one box...:-).... J.
Guest Kelly Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Re: Automatic log-in? 1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok. 2. On the Users tab, left click "your user name" then clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK. 3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the "user name and password" for the account you want to be logged on each time you start your computer. Added note: (Alex MVP) If you want to logon to one of the other users, hold down shift as the system boots up. Tip: Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm "Janetb" <Janetb@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:99C66274-E457-4F4A-920D-BC7CCE876631@microsoft.com... > How can I set my system so I don't have to log-in everytime I boot up? > I'd like to to skip not only the welcome Screen but also the Log on to > Windows dialogue box---that is, to have automatic log-in.
