Guest New bie Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2 and using DSL ADSL Roter. I am having a problem with my Internet connection. My main problem (connecting to Net) was solved, from input, which I received from this NG. But I do have another problem. When I am downloading a big file all of a sudden my Net connection gets disconnected . Thus I have to start all over again from the beginning to download the file. Any idea why this is happening and is there any way by which I can stay connected during downloading ? Regards.

You need to increase the Maxim Transmission Unit (MTU) on your PC to be able to finish the updates: Open a run command and type in: regedit.exe click [OK] and locate this Key: [-]HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\Interfaces= DWORD (1472) HOW TO: Change the Default Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) Size Settings for PPP Connections or for VPN Connections http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826159 Also see thispecs here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314496/EN-US/ Recommended TCP/IP settings for WAN links with a MTU size of less than 576 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900926 Also if you have a Web accelerator can corrupt the Download or disrupt it. Check your firewall not setting the file Limit to your system. HTH. nass
