A missing Hibernate Power option tab

Dell Inspiron 4150 Windows xp Home SP2

This has been recurring

I keep losing the power option tab for enabling "Hibernate"

Can someone supply a reg key fix so I can reuse it if this happens again?

More importantly, does anyone know why this keeps happening? Seems like it

started after the previous security update. Anyone else having this

problem as of recently?

Thanks

Re: A missing Hibernate Power option tab

Right click on the Desktop and select Properties, on the Display properties

window click on Screen saver then on Power Button.

On the Power options Properties click on Hibernate Tab.

Hibernate:

[ ] Enable Hibernation < Select this check box.

Click on Advanced tab on the same window and make this changes:

Power buttons:

When I close the Lid of my Portable Computer:

[ Hibernate ][v]

When I press the power button on My Computer:

[ Hibernate ][v]

Click [OK]

Reboot your machine and try Start >> Turn Off Computer , does this help?.

Did you find the Key in the registry and change it to:

[-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown

[ON]ShowHibernationButton REG_ DWORD 0x00000001(1)

Re: A missing Hibernate Power option tab

Thanks Kelly...

Reading through MS Knowledgebase Pages I realized...

Hibernation is temporarily suspended if there are any updates requiring a

reboot. Duh! Hard to belive I made so many fix attempts without REBOOTING.
