Guest Bharneck Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I bought an HP Pavilion a1737c. Now today, my memory kept running out so my computer kept turning off. Now I'm trying to log back in and it tells me my Windows Vista isn't genuine. I have reformatted once with the HP Recovery discs I was sent. They do not have a serial number. What am I supposed to do? Quote

Check out Ubuntu at http://www.ubuntu.com/ It's free, needs no anti virus or anti malware programs, updates *everything* on your computer so you don't have to be going round getting a Java update here and a Flash update there. No activating. No getting "genuine" and, best of all, it's FREE! Alias Quote
Guest Carey Frisch [MVP] Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Re: How is my windows not genuine? Make sure your installed version of Windows Vista is activated. Follow this procedure: You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4" (w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing Enter. The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes. Note: The "Start Search" box is located right above the Vista blue start button when you click on it. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Bharneck" wrote: I bought an HP Pavilion a1737c. Ubuntu comes with access to over 25,000 programs and if there is a Windows program you have to have, you can run it in Wine. But, you're right, you'll save a lot of money because the programs are all FREE! Oops.
