how do i go about getting back what what i purchased from best buy, an hp pavilion elite hpe that microsoft stole from me

i bought a brand new hp pavilion elite hpe windows 7 for 1000.00 from best buy end of 09 and it works great always has. it came with a dvd writer, which worked excellent until i was suckered in to installing windows 10 and now according to microsoft i didn't need the burner that i bought. essentially what i paid for was taken away without buying it back. it seems kind of like highway robbery. so i have a dvd external writer from hp, light scribe, that is or was for windows xp. and it doesn't work can't find the drivers or they won't download to this external drive. doesn't recognize the blank
