Latest Windows 10 Update said it Scanned & Repaired My External Drive but Broke It Instead!

I used my external hard drive last night without issue. I opened and edited a few files and had no problems. Then I woke up this morning and noticed a pending update, and my computer needed to restart. So I did what I always do before installing a new Windows update. I checked to see if Alienware had any updates, reviewed and updated Microsoft store apps then installed the update. During the update, I noticed it was taking longer than usual on the Alienware loading screen.
