Monitor is stuck in Power Save mode and won't increase brightness

We own a HP Victus, running Windows 11, bought this time last year. Used a few days ago and everything was fine. Put away (unplugged) after we were finished. Launched it today, plugged in and the screen brightness was ok. Went to install a game (star wars, the old republic) and everything was fine. Left it installing as I went to work. Came back and the game installed and the screen brightness shifted to a power saving mode and was flickering when we returned to it. Now, we have charged the computer to almost full, turned off power saving mode and cannot get the screen to come back to normal.
