When I connect my windows 10 laptop wirelessly to my Smart TV " >project >pc screen only>connect to wireless device, my laptop screen goes black.

I cannot even press "esc" to get back the use of my laptop screen, but I do see the mouse moving on my TV. I've successfully been able to project before and it worked fine, but suddenly it stopped working so that I cannot have control of my laptop screen. Is there a feature I inadvertently switched on/off, and can I un-do that before I try to project again. Any ideas?
