Guest KModed Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 I just received a "new"/refurbished laptop with Windows 10. I ran Windows Updates, then turned off wifi and ran Windows Defender off-line. "HackTool:Win32/ProductKey" was found and quarantined, noted as a severe threat (Affected items: file: C:\files\produkey-x64-produkey-x64\ProduKey.exe). I am surprised that malware was found on a "new" laptop, because I have not used any browsers yet, I have not downloaded any apps, I have not accessed email...I simply turned on the laptop, ran Updates, then ran Defender off-line.
