Playing a DX10/11 game on Windows 11 laptop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti

I am having problems with running an old game that supports DX 9/10/11 on my Windows 11 laptop.The laptop came with DX12. The game doesn't seem to be detecting DX 10 or 11 and assumes DX9, but then crashes reporting lack of DX9 as well.I've installed DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer 9.29.1974.1; not sure how to check if it worked but trying to run the wizard again gives feedback tha the feature is already installed.
