Guest JOHN HARRIS Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I use to be able to connect using an XP desktop with no problem to our servers using an RDP connection. Now, running VISTA Ultimate, I can connect but do not see all of the items I need. For example, I can see the routing groups on exchange but cannot alter users. I know this is related to admin privileges, but I am running RDP with admin rights with no luck. I occasionally get a log error that states I am either (1) using a version earlier than VISTA (which I am...using server 2003), or (2) using RDP layer. Any ideas how to fix this?
Guest Coraleigh Miller Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Re: Using VISTA RDP on Server 2003 Hi John, Are you sure that you are logging in with the correct account, and not possibly an incorrect prestored one? Does this issue happen regardless of which Vista PC you remote in from? Do you have all the latest windows updates and service packs? Are there any relevant events in your event logs? Is your Vista RDC build 6000? The RDC error you recieve is a fairly common one with Vista & Server 2003. You can suppress it if you wish through the following: 1 - Click on "Options" 2 - Click on the "Advanced Tab" 3 - In "Authentication Options", select "Always connect, even if authentication fails This will disable the warning prompt. However be aware that selecting this option makes it possible for attackers to intercept and modify the data exchanged between client and server.
