How to install XP with USB keyboard and mouse?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install XP with USB keyboard and

mouse?

In the middle of installation process, it requests for continuing

installation with USB devices even thought XP has difficulty to recognize

them, then USB keyboard and mouse are not function at this stage, and XP

cannot finish the rest of installation process without confirmation.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to skip this kind of questions

during the installation?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Eric

If your system is having problems with this, it may be the hardware and

BIOS, not XP. So, borrow a non-USB keyboard and mouse for this occasion.

Sounds like the BIOS is not set for Legacy USB devices. Get a PS/2

keyboard and change it.

Thank everyone for suggestions

I have checked BIOS, which support USB keyboard and mouse, and my USB

keyboard and mouse are still working during the initial stage of XP

installation, I can click my mouse to confirm Y/N for other devices, and type

F8 to agree for XP installation.

Does you have any suggestions why the USB keyboard and mouse stop working in

the middle of installation process?

Thanks everyone for any suggestions

Eric

What motherboard/chipset does your PC use ? Some Wireless

mice/keyboard combinations can have their receiver connected

either with USB or by using a USB-to-PS2 adapter plug. If you

have that converter, I would try and install XP with the receiver

connected to a PS2 socket.

RE: How to install XP with USB keyboard and mouse?

I'm having this problem as well. I don't think it has anything to do with

your keyboard being a usb keyboard. I'm having the problem using a ps2

keyboard. From what I understand, XP sp1 has issues on installation with

keyboard drivers. I'm told that you may be able to install the keyboard

drivers via a floppy boot disk as a workaround, but I haven't been able to

check this out just yet.
