LilGeek Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I understand why you have those older forums. To me it seems they would be of waste of space. Do people even visit them? If anyone is still using any of those OS'es they leave themselves very vulnerable. If for nostalgia it would be better to link to the Wikipedia pages for those OS'es. That's my 2 cents. Quote
Ravenfreak Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Honestly I wouldn't mind some of those conversations be reopened. There's still quite a few hobbyists who use these older operating systems, whether they're using old machines or emulating them. I know there's sub reddits that cover different operating systems, but it couldn't help. Quote

ZacheryZha Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Anyone run older system only lead to problems. Instant hacked. XP worst. I say remove it. Quote
SallyDough Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 If you don't need the space why remove them. Not hurting anything if you keep them. Quote

There’s still fans of these particular operating systems and I think it would be a good idea to have them open as well. It doesn’t hurt to allow discussions of them. It might even attract new users as well. On 12/10/2024 at 11:05 AM, LilGeek said: I understand why you have those older forums. To me it seems they would be of waste of space. ExTS Admin AWS Posted December 14, 2024 ExTS Admin Posted December 14, 2024 Good input here. I am looking at options. I am leaning to opening them up again. After doing some research it seems there are groups that installs old OS for nostalgia purposes. I grabbed a Windows 95 VM and installed it to play with. Amazing to see how far we've come. I might even offer the VM's for download. Quote Need computer support? Then why not join Extreme Tech Support. Register here We are members helping other members. Geek Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 From my perspective let the past go and move into the future. I see no valid reason to have them. There are sites out there dedicated to legacy OS. Quote
LilGeek Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 I'm still saying remove them. They are closed anyway. If someone is still using an old EOL OS they leave themselves open for all sorts of bad stuff. Quote
