RandyL Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 JOE THE PLUMBER: Mcain touts to support people like Joe the plumber but Joe is not a licensed plumber even though he plumbs. Joe says he doesn't need a license since he only works for a company in his city. The city disagrees. The company only consists of the owner and Joe and purports to make close to $250,000 a year in profits. (Actually they don't make that clear but imply it) So is this profits or income? Either way Joe can not buy this company as he said he wanted to because he also said he sees no need to get a license. It seems to me he might not be able to afford it as he has no license and and has no intention of getting one and this is a two man company. There are so many things wrong with Joe and Mcains story. I've noticed Mcain has distanced himself from Joe since the debate. Why? Because it seems the company and Joe may be engaging in illegal practices. Perhaps. Also consider that Mcain slanted the story to say that this business made over $250,000 profit and that would cause it to suffer increased taxes under Obamas plan. A two man business that has $250,000 in profits is Mcains idea of small business suffering because Obamas plan calls for a 4% increase on profits above that. Does anyone here make $125,000 a year? (profit) Maybe Joe needs health care and a pension. Forget that. He is not licensed and does not belong to a union. No matter. If he makes $125,000 a year he can afford private insurance. Do you see the problem and issues here? I could go on but it seems Mcain is toutiing the rich not having to pay a paltry percentage more while supporting Joe and his rich company who's practices may or may not be dubvious. For the record I made $40,000 a year before I recently retired from a great Union job. Not $125,000. The average American probably makes half that. The bottom line is does the average American worker have any sympathy for a two man company that purports to have a $250,000 a year profit which equates to $125,000 a year per person? This company also employs Joe an unlicensed plumber. Mcain supports this company or more likely grasped at straws because in reality the average person in Mcains eyes does not exist. BeeCeeBee Posted October 25, 2008 Author Posted October 25, 2008 Just a quick one. I just heard on CNN US that our man Joe is now considering running for congress. Bet he'll be a "maverick" you betcha!!! Having watched everything going on here all McCain had to do to win is get rid of Sarah Palin and replace her with Tina Fey. A definite upgrade!!! Dalo Harkin Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I must admit I would rather see Obama as president over McCain, but with the recent attempt on his life - you must also ask yourself if he is made president it would be awful having to step into the limelight thinking that people are out to kill you - I know that all presidents and people in power must have the same fears and are equal targets, but we know that more attempts will be made on Obama. What a sad world we live in where peoples skin colour is a factor of how people react to you! BeeCeeBee Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Voted last week Randy. Regarding Obama and Race. It still worries me that the only way he may lose is if people are not telling the truth to the pollsters. As to your concerns I can only assume that the Secret Service is capable of understaanding and dealing with the incresed risk of some crazies out there. Even if the worst should happen, the country and the world would be better off with a President Biden than a President Palin. I think the risk of losing John McCain during his term is (hopefully) greater then losing Obama. Personally I do not think that John McCain today looks as well as he did a year ago. BeeCeeBee Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 For Seth I really didnt expect to get into the picture thing since I am really a learner not a helper but then I thought about this thread. So I added this one to the profile. Neil Simon wrote a play called God's Favorite which was based on the story of Job. I had the opportunity to paly the part of the "messenger." I dont know how it will copy to here but there is a big "G"on the sweatshirt he wears. Now you know the extent of my bleief. :D:D:D Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
BeeCeeBee Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Sorry that doesn't make sense. I added a picture to my profle thinking it would be added to my posts. I was wrong and If I made it any smaller it would probably become unrecognisable. It was just a drawing from a program cover that i saved. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children."
