Someone told me they saw someone's answer to my unanswered question, on

It was this group...but didn't have an answer...my messages are grouped by

conversation and to show "All Messages," and there wasn't an answer visible

here...so someone saw it in Yahoo. But where? I've asked and waiting for her

response. ? video card...

resubmitting post...sorry, informed saw something "similar" in Yahoo related

to the video card... I've had 7 people respond to an email I sent out with

my post on it (Forwarded from here) and 5 are having the same experience

with their XP Pro loaded computers...one said "It seems to resolve

itself...we couldn't find one thing wrong, nor could MS--go figure..." Yes,

let's go figure.

Usenet is not e-mail. If you sent out e-mail then you belong to some

mailing list. Replies to the mailing list go back to the server and

back to the members of the mailing list. Either you didn't get the

e-mail response or it got delete (by you or anti-spam filtering).

Yahoo Groups is not Usenet. Yahoo Groups are their own *private*

forums. You will have to go back to Yahoo Groups to the group where

you posted.

One last time, if anyone has an answer to my question, I'd appreciate having

it posted herein.

Secondly, my posts are all on Google. I clearly stated that person who told

me he saw the "response" on Yahoo--finally emailed me that he was

mistaken--it was Google.

Thirdly, I do not use any other venues for MS concerns.

Lastly, I stated I sent out emails (to friends, etc) on the issue before me

with XP Pro--and forwarded my original post to THEM. "They" are the ones who

responded to me, via my personal email.

Am I making myself clear? It all seems succinct in Google.

Thank you. Ariel

found answer re video card in French version of this NG...I'm the blind one

here... ;-))

I would suspect the video adapter driver to be at fault. Is the most

current version from the video adapter manufacturer installed? What ever

you do, DO NOT get one from "Windows Updates". They are typically a

generic version and will "downgrade" your system, even if they are "newer".

As an FYI, my posted problem is called a "Redraw Problem," according to

Troubleshooting in "Display."

Now, just what properties are supposed to be in Display settings (no

defaults are indicated)?

One can tinker around at will but its not, IMHO, wise to do so. I did make

some changes; hopefully, they're all right... "Troubleshooter" errantly

"asks" if the problem is solved! Ya, like sure...I'll pop into multi-tasking

while I'm in Troubleshooter.

Changes: Settings/Monitor/box: Hide Modes This Monitor Cannot Display

(unchecked it). It was checked before.

Changed Color Quality down to 16 bit.

Reduced Screen Resolution to 1280 X 1024...

What on earth is Broadcom Control 2??? Its listed in my Programs, downloaded

from MS.

Thank you.

Hi Ariel/Laungingstar~*

Did you get an updated video driver for your graphics card? I wasn't too

sure from your earlier post whether you had or whether you were just

saying you had identified the card as the source of the problem.

You might want to try turning down the hardware acceleration a notch to

see if that cures it -- there's a slider in Settings | Advanced |

Troubleshoot tab.

Could I please ask a favour? Please don't post attachments to the group.

It's not a good idea and most people will delete them unlooked-at

anyway.
