Guest Clayton Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi, I have a XP Pro system here which gives an IO.SYS error message on startup then you click ok and another message says error code 50 access violation then you can click ok and it will continue to load the desktop etc. Is this a major problem?

Guest John John Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: IO.SYS Error on Startup IO.sys is the DOS boot loader for DOS/Windows 9x operating systems, the file isn't used by XP. Look in the Event Viewer to see if any further information is recorded at boot time. Use msconfig to see if anything there is related. Go to Microsoft's web site and download Autoruns and see if you can find out what might be wanting to use the file on startup.
