Guest Brian Cryer Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 We have a small office in which we have project files shared from a Windows 2003 standard server. One of our users (xp pro, sp2) has the problem where she can create a new folder or rename a file/folder in this share using windows explorer but windows explorer doesn't then show the change unless she hits F5 (refresh). No-one else has this problem. I don't see anything untoward in the event logs of either her pc or the server. Whilst I don't see anything to indicate a need, I will be scheduling a disk check tonight just in case it helps. Any ideas? TIA. -- Brian Cryer http://www.cryer.co.uk/brian

Guest Brian Cryer Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: File rename not appearing until F5 refresh Thanks Anthony, the KB article doesn't mention the problem with renaming, but it is the closest thing I've yet seen. I've requested the hot-fix from Microsoft, and will see if it fixes the problem. -- Brian Cryer http://www.cryer.co.uk/brian "Anthony" <anthony.spam@spammedout.com> wrote in message news:%232JIj8r$HHA.4476@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > It could be this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873392/en-us > Anthony, http://www.airdesk.co.uk > > > "Brian Cryer" <brianc@127.0.0.1.activesol.co.uk> wrote in message > news:Ou%23BBAq$HHA.536@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> We have a small office in which we have project files shared from a >> Windows 2003 standard server. Guest Anthony Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Re: File rename not appearing until F5 refresh Hi Brian, You can easily test this one by changing the sharing (mapped or network places) "This problem may occur if the shared network folder is mapped to a folder inside a shared folder.". This could explain why one person has a problem and others don't, and could be fixed without a hotfix, Anthony, http://www.airdesk.co.uk "Brian Cryer" <brianc@127.0.0.1.activesol.co.uk> wrote in message news:OP0CSTs$HHA.484@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Thanks Anthony, > > the KB article doesn't mention the problem with renaming, but it is the > closest thing I've yet seen. Guest Brian Cryer Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Re: File rename not appearing until F5 refresh To be quite honest I'm not sure what Microsoft mean by a "shared network folder is mapped to a folder inside a shared folder". In this case the share on the network server is to a folder straight of one of the drives, and on the client the share is mapped directly. Whilst the symptoms described are similar I don't see a problem trying the hotfix - I now have it from Microsoft so will try it shortly.
