mike Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Would you order a Free CD from Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help, full of open source/free software which we recommend for Windows, Linux and Mac? The CD would be categorized and very simple to use by a menu driven interface. There would be a Postage & Packaging cost of only £1 for UK delivery. At this time the offer is only open to UK members. The CD would be updated several times a year to include updated and new applications. Just be aware that you will need to check for updates periodically for each application you install. A Full list of available software which will be on the CD will be released at a later date. At the moment we are just gauging opinion as to the viability of this. Please tell us what software you would like and this will be discussed, please bare in mind it must be open source. We realise that members may not be aware of the benefits of certain open source software contained on one CD and therefore we are conducting this poll. Quote Need computer support? BeeCeeBee Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Not fair for me to vote When you open it up to Yanks living in Ireland but with a driving license from a UK protectorate you have my vote!!!:D Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Guest Wolfeymole Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Are you in Northern Ireland or Southern Ireland Barry? Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 County Clare, just outside Limerick in the south and I read your letter from an Irish Mother and it doesn't wring true. It is far to damp here to seal an envelope. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Plastic Nev Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I had to vote, "depends on what software is on it" Because I already have that much free stuff already, it would be pointless sending the postage for a CD with everything I already have.;) Quote Need help with your computer problems? BeeCeeBee Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Seems to me that it is what people call a no brainer. For a pound you get recommended software on a clean source from people who we all look to for davice when things go wrong. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
BeeCeeBee Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I think that was advice not davice but then again, maybe not. lol Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Goku Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I agree there Barry. A pound seems a reasonable price for a host of free softwares that we usually recommend to facilitate your daily computing use. The best part is that you can retain the softwares for future use or to share them with your friends and relatives to give them a smoother PC experience. Besides, for 1 pound, every 3 months or 6 months, you get the latest version of the softwares available. :) -- Goku Quote
devo357 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 And to add to that Someone will have to take the time and get this CD together thus saving valuable time for any one trying to do this on there own. All the leg work is done, you get a valuable tool from a place you can trust and the world is a better place! I think its a great idea and maybe I can get Wolfey to send me one:D Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Plastic Nev Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 My original post was a bit tongue in cheek, the benefits that a decent CD or better DVD could hold for all of us is well worth the quid and maybe a donation as well. Do we post the titles of software we would like to see on it, here, or should a new thread be started for that? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
