map a drive, log out, in , drive disconnected

I have two XP machines one is a domain machine one is a workgroup machine.

When I map a drive from one to the other and check "reconnect at logon" and

restart the drive is disconnected. It still shows up on the machine but I

have to connect and give the password again to get it to work. Since I want

things to happen automatically at login this is too late. This happens even

if I connect as another user using the login for the host machine. I tried

creating a user account on the domain machine for the workgroup machine but I

couldn't.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chas

Run a startup script when you logon instead of trying to persistently map

things...

Need more info, are you on a domain or in a workgroup? When you log

into windows, is the mapped drive always disconnected, or does it happen

only sporadically? When you map the network drive, are you checking the

'reconnect at login' checkbox?
